Does anybody here know how the alternate list at Cornell works? Are there two separate lists for in state and OOS? I ask because I'm in state and if there are separate lists then I would imagine the in state list doesn't move much.

Hey velcro. I posted this on the update thread, but I will post it here for everyone's sake. I talked to Jennifer in the admissions office today. Here are the details:

- there is one list, but they will maintain their pre-defined oos and is class makeup.

- they will NOT tell you your rank on the list =o(

- as the letter said we are strongly encouraged to come to the info session (she said space for these dates is usually fine, so I am going to wait and see if I get a Penn interview and combine the trips).

I think these are the main points. Not sure if this list will move, but here is hoping that we both get offers!

Which is basically the same as having two lists. Oh well. Thanks for the info and good luck!

Yeah, pretty much the same as oos list and IS list. Sorry =o( Keep the hope alive though!

Does anybody know if Cornell has been moving the alternate list at all or are they going to wait until after the 4/15 acceptance deadline to start contacting the waitlisters.

They should have said when they would start contacting people in the letter. At least they did last year. And the director of admisisons was the one that called. As a heads up I only got 48 hours to decide!

Yeah, it just says that they will have a final decision on applications around April 25th. I just didn't know whether or not they might actually start sending out notices before then or not as they got more people declining admission.

I talked to the admissions people and they said that the list would not move until after April 15th 🙁.

Yes, Jennifer told me that they "Probably" wouldn't start to move the list 'till April 15.
Good luck everyone 🙂

Has anybody heard whether or not Cornell has filled the in state portion of the '12 class? I've seen that it has moved for the OOS so I'm thinking that it might be a done deal for the in-staters. 🙁
