Hi to everyone. I'm finally taking the plunge in after several months of lurkdom. I'm a refugee from the Princeton Review site and I have been thrilled to find a new place full of constructive and positive premeds! You guys have been my consolation during this summer of our collective discontent.
Quick intro...I'm an Ohio State student, good stats--submitted AMCAS June 30..no verification, no Xs, no change notification button. There seem to be quite a few of us in this situation. Very suspicious. Anyway, Cornell is one of the few schools of mine that I haven't heard boo from..and I know they don't screen for secondaries..so today I was motivated to call them to see if they even knew I existed. They did but had my application marked as preliminary since it is *unverified". Thus no secondary even until verification. Lovely. Angry, I called AMCAS and demanded an explanation. They (Melvin) said it was very odd that my app wasn't verifed since all the June's were finished (I guess they are NOT huh?!) He said he would immediately print out a copy and give it to his supervisor and designate it as "Priority". I am to call back Friday to check on its status. He asked me which medical school had told me it was doing nothing with unverified apps. I told him and he had the nerve to tell me that I should call Cornell and tell them to call AMCAS. He said Cornell is a member of AMCAS and should not be going about things this way. Well I told him what I thought of that idea! I'm sure that Cornell is not the only school that is sitting on unverified apps. Oh I'm so happy I busted my butt to get the app done early! It has really paid off! No wonder I have no interviews yet!! AAHHHHHHH!
