complete since mid oct. no word yet. i am not one who believes that no news is good news. rather, i believe that no bad news is good news and no good news is stressful!!!

i've already been fortunate enough to be accepted to one NYC school, but i will certainly still interview with cornell if invited.

i got the rejection letter last month. it's a bummer, and i feel your pain. good luck with the rest.

Got mine today too. 🙁

I didn't get a rejection letter because I haven't applied yet...but when I finally do get my Cornell rejection letter in a few years...it will most certainly be painful. Sorry guys...🙁 🙁 I'm sure all of you will make it into another school (if ya haven't already) and in the end...it's just the MD that matters. Good luck everyone and feel better.

I didn't apply to Cornell and its brothers because I was pretty certain that I would get rejected anyway. In all honesty, I don't take rejection letters very well despite the whole "oh, it's no big deal attitude." Rejection hurts because it's a way of these big schools saying that you're not good enough despite all your hard work and effort or that others out there are better than you and deserve an elite education more than you do. I learned my lesson from applying to all these big schools for college admissions. I didn't want the same thing to happen to me again for medical school admissions so instead, I applied to mid/low tier and state schools. Sometimes, I wonder well, "what if.." but at least now I can say, "well, I didn't even apply," instead of saying, "yeah, I applied there and got rejected."

I got my rejection today also:clap: Funny because I really didn't care to attend the school. It was one of the two "way off" schools that I applied too. Just wanted to check if they were paying attention to their application pool...guess they were.

I was really psyched to get the thin letter today from cornell.. although even if I had gotten in, I would have declined my acceptance, just to say that I passed on cornell... now, just waiting for my second "reach" rejection (emory) and I'll be done anxiously checking email/snailmail...

Mine too.

I thought, well, at least it was nice of them to wait till after the holidays....🙄

It was a definite reach for me too; I'm not the science/research type they seem to love. I almost didn't bother with the app, but since I'm applying almost exclusively to NY area schools I went ahead and sent it in.

Ah well. Still waiting on...lessee...that makes six to go I haven't heard a word from since hearing I was complete.

Any time now, guys.....

+pissed+

Hmm, my rejection must have gotten lost in the mail. I'm sure it will find its way to me shortly. 🙂

I'm sure I am on the way to receiving a rejection by Cornell an UPenn. They have had my application for five months now and no word. I am not quite sure why I have been in limbo so often, but it is interesting...

I haven't heard back from a group of schools since November (including Cornell) but I have not gotten any outright rejection letters yet. Why is this? Maybe they are just too lazy to send them to me!

Cornell is kindof a weird school as far as granting interviews. I am not sure what their policy is, but I'm sure its tailored to their unique curriculum.

Hey guys,

When were your rejections mailed? I am up in Canada, waiting, and the mail can take such a long time....

Similar things happened to me during college applications as well, but that didn't deter me from applying to good med schools. I think rejections hurt, but just don't tell everyone where you're applying, then you don't have to let everyone knows where you were rejected from.

I recant what I said about the rejection. I got an interview 5 months after they had my complete file. What the heck??

Me too. I just got the interview invite after being complete since october. I am just glad I got the invite, regardless of when it came!

congrats on the interviews! do you know when it is scheduled for? I haven't heard anything yet and am just trying to figure out how close to the end of their interview season they have booked already.

i can't believe you save your rejection letters. i dispose of mine as quickly as possible. don't you worry that the badness of them might seep into your soul and shatter your confidence while you sleep?

i got my rejection from cornell two days ago. pre-interview. disappointing.

i am saving it so i can frame it and hang it next to my awards! not!i actually don't know why i saved it. i am the kind of person who likes to throw things away. maybe if i have it long enough, it'll turn into an acceptance.

I got mine a few days ago. Seems cornell doesnt have too much faith in their undergrad, 3.8 at cornell with 33mcat, didnt even get an interview.

I wonder what happened to PianoGirl04. She had insane stats and was waiting for the longest time for a Cornell invite

Actually when I interviewed at cornell, out of the, say, 12 people there, the majority were cornell undergrads. but i know what you mean.... cuz i've pretty much been rejected from my alma mater's med school--my stats aren't even that great which makes sense that i didn't get an interview but a friend of mine has INSANE stats and ECs, LORs, etc and he didn't get an interview, so we keep joking that our school isn't taking care of its own. but
i just think its just a case of alot of people applying to their alma mater's med school.

To the person who asked when my interview is it is in late january

My roomie called me while I was away to let me know that I've been added to the list of distinguished rejects. 🙂 But they were quite sincere in wishing me the best of luck with the rest of my application process. 🙄

....Came home to a very thin letter from Cornell today.

Rejected.

Boo. Hiss.

Looks like Cornell decided to dig some mass graves yesterday... I got the axe as well. Regardless of what the folks at Weill think of me, I still love my Alma Mater. Let's go Red!

damnit, I wish they'd reject me already (honestly). My application has been complete since mid-september and still no word. What the hell, 4 months with no action (and yes, I called them a couple weeks ago to make sure that nothing was lost in the mail).

yup got the rejection letter 2 days ago...so now i've been rejected from my alma mater...vandy...and cornell. *sigh* what's up with getting no love from your undergrad school! 😡

Has anyone received an interview invite lately? Like Rendar, I've heard nothing since I was informed mid-September that my application was complete.

I just wanted to say -

It's true that "misery loves company". I feel so much better knowing that I'm not alone in my rejection. Honestly, Cornell wasn't a first choice or anything, but still, so many rejections, they all feel the same after a while, and I'm happy to have this "rejection community", as it were.

Wow, that is pretty shocking....specially with those numbers......I had heard that cornell almost guarantees an interview to its undergrads...guess not
