corpus luteum vs. primary polar body…is there a difference?

hmm not quit.

The when the a diploid cell is undergoing meiosis(to produce eggs) during cytokenisis the cytoplasm is unevenly distributed and we end up with an egg and a polar body. In most instances the polar body is disintegrated.

The corpus luteum is actually an endocrine gland that is "left over" after the egg is released during ovulation. It produces significant amounts of progesterone, estrogen, and inhibin (granted fertilization has occurred). If the egg is not fertilized the corpus luteum disintegrates until next time
