One of the REUs I'm applying to requires that cover letters be submitted by email. Now, 8 days after I sent my letter in, I received a reply confirming that the letter and application were received, and I noticed that the cover letter I sent contains a typo. Instead of "... I am taking a Bioinformatics course next semester ..." it says "I am taking a Bioinformatics couse semester next semester." I proofread repeatedly but still managed to miss this somehow.
Should I send a quick reply correcting the error, or does that just make it worse?
