Hello all,

I have seen a lot of posts over the last few weeks asking about the correlation between DAT practice tests and this year's DAT (myself included).
So, I was thinking that it could be valuable to actually have data that shows the relationship. If you are interested, comment DAT scores and your practice scores (with program name) and I will gather the data and do some basic statistical analysis on it, then put it back on here.

This data though, could NEVER serve as an accurate predictor for a score, it would only be able to show relationships. I think a lot of people get discouraged by tougher practice materials such as Bootcamp and Destroyer, and this could help them to have a little more confidence.

Also, if you disagree that this data should be put together, let's talk about it!

I included all my practice scores in my breakdown, but I really don't think the strength of practice tests comes from their predictive value (which is pretty low). This pursuit doesn't really seem like it would be worthwhile. People that do REALLY well on practice tests will probably do well on the DAT, people that do REALLY badly will probably do poorly on the DAT, and everything in between is just too difficult to predict.

I see what you are saying. While I recognize that good practice scores PROBABLY correlate to good DAT scores, isn't it kind of dangerous to just assume that without having seen all the data? It seems like everyone on here says that you will do better on the actual DAT than Bootcamp, but I also think that listening to opinions of random users could be risky without seeing actual data...

I don't think you should try to predict your score at all using practice tests. too often people get discouraged or hyped about their practice tests. you have to keep in mind it doesn't matter what you score on practice tests only on the real thing. be happy you're making mistakes on the BC or whatever tests, learn from these mistakes, and get the questions right on the real DAT.
sure, it's nice to see improvement in practice tests but really all that matters is that you learn while practicing and doing well only one time
