hey guys: quick question. I wanted to get your guys take on this. So if the r is .69, what type of line would that be? Thanks!

Also, how does hepatitis B cause damage to your liver? Like whats the mechanism

Also, if the pt has polyps and it says his dad and grandfather died of colon cancer then it says which gene is responsible: apc, p53, or k-ras?

2. Immune system attacks infected liver cells -> damages everything around it too. That's why newborns nearly always have chronic hepatitis -> their immune systems don't launch an attack on the liver.

An r value of +0.69 indicates a direct correlation with scattering.
Liver damage seen in HBV is due to self immune damage. More specifically, after APCs take up HBV antigens and activate T-helper cells, cell-mediated immunity is activated. CD8+ cytotoxic T-cells arrive to the liver and produce hepatocellular damage.
APC --> K-ras --> TP53 is the classic "adenoma-to-carcinoma" sequence seen in the pathogenesis of colorectal carcinoma. Since there's a family history involved, the most likely answer is APC. APC deletions (5q del) are seen in familial adenomatous polyposis, an autosomal dominant condition where thousands of adenomatous colon polyps are seen with a %100 progression to colon cancer.

HBV damage to hepatocytes is by apoptosis , By MHC-1 presenting the antigen on surface of cell and CD-8 T-cells inducing the killing .

The colon cancer qs is a bit not clear ... i would pick p53 if they are asking what mutation would lead to colon cancer .. as far as i know

APC --> increase the risk for fomation of a polyp

K-ras --> mutation leads to formation of a polyp

P53--> mutation and over expression of COX lead to progression to carcinoma ..
