corticosteroids and dermal atrophy

A friend of mine went to a dermatologist before her wedding for an injection into a cyst on her face. one month later she has hypopigmentation and some dermal atrophy. Is this side effect perminent if no more injections are done? If it is not perminent when will it resolve?
