Hi,

I'm thinking about getting private loans for financing Dental school. Since I'm not a US citizen, I'll be needing a cosigner, but I have more than one person to ask. So, since I'm not experienced at all with the US credit history issue, I have no clue as to what makes a person have a good credit history. I will like to know this, so to know whom I could choose as a cosigner. Since I read here that from that person credit history depends the interest rate.

What should I know or look in a person to know if that person could make a good cosigner?
What makes a good credit history?

Thanks.

Good credit is determined by the credit history your creditors report to 3 main credit agencies. Most of the time these scores are averaged together to get a FICO score that lets lenders know how fiscally responsible you are, sometimes they only use one agency's records- depends on the lender.
