There's no specialty for cosmetics and any general dentist can do it...hence the possible problems. My boss goes to the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies every year with her team to learn smile design, full mouth reconstruction, etc. It makes huge money when you do an entire arch and each tooth is $1000. 2 arches is even better. There is some extra chair time for adjustments and consults, but when you do four cases in just a few months....well, that seems worth it. Plus, it's one of the coolest aspects of dentistry. The women who have been in our office have left with tears in their eyes (with just their temporaries on) because their smiles are completely changed in around 4 hours. Those with occlusion problems have their lives changed because their migraines and neck pain are gone. It's pretty neat and my boss is really passionate about it. Dentists have been in the news lately, though, who are not properly trained and have seriously messed up people's teeth by putting veneers and the like on improperly.
