Cost of an interviews

How much is the usual cost of an interview at a dental school located in the city? (Include flights, meals etc.)
That would all depend on the interview and where you live.
For example, if you live in a city that only has a regional airport and you need to fly to a city with a regional airport then your probably going to spend a lot on your flight. There is also a wide range of rates for hotels in different cities.

You can usually book a flight+hotel through places like expedia.com travelocity and hotels.com. Look into those because you can find some great deals on places to stay and you give an address where you have to go and itll give you the amount of miles the hotel is from that place. I flew to san diego for 4 nights from michigan and paid 300 for flight + hotel. It is all about finding deals. You can eat at expensive restaraunts or you can get mcdonalds. The price of the interview is up to you.

When I applied the first time, there was absolutely no way I could afford to fly to my interviews. I drove to every interview and slept in my car while traveling only staying in a hotel the night before the interview so I could get cleaned up. That greatly reduced the cost of interviewing. As for meals, go to the store when you are in town you are interviewing and buy frozen meals. Most rooms have microwaves. This might not sound desirable, but if you are low on money, this is an easy way to save money.

It's really depends on where u live, and where u are interviewing. For me, going to NYC could be more expensive than going to LA since Im from west coast.

Pretty much all of my flights are going to be from the Southeast to Northeast US.

some interviews start early (8 am) and you will need to get a hotel and pay for meals. these interviews are pricey.

other interviews start later in the morning; therefore, you can catch the red-eye and just make a day out of it.

i interviewed at maryland and only spent $150 total, including airfare and an airport meal. the interview started at 11:30 am.

NYU, on the other hand, i spent close to $400 b/c of airfaire, hotel, food, and transfers from airport into the city. the interview started at 8 am.

those are the 2 extremes (maryland=cheap, nyu=expensive)

jb!🙂

where do you live in the SE? make sure you check the airfares offered by airtran, southwest, and jet blue. these airlines will be your best bets, as they are cheap, on-time, and reliable.

I suppose hotel and airfare are the main costs. I have acquaintances and close friends who might let me crash at their places for a night. And I usually take Airtran.

So would the rest of the cost be transportation (T/Subway) and meals? How much do you think those'll add up for each interview in Boston/NYC? Well minus the meals because that can get quite complicated.

for me it was about 400-500 per interview

I'd better start paying off my credit card NOW then haha.

Check out Southwest Airlines. I had this great deal for college students where you fly 3 times and get the fourth one for free. I got my fourth flight for free👍

I did it last year. I'm not 100% sure they have it this year. You can call their number on their website. Good luck
