Hi there, another quick question. On a Community college in my area's website, it states that for the university here with the pharm program, that last year the cutoff was 3.11 gpa, and everyone over that got in.

Does this sound realistic? Isn't that fairly low? I don't know how they factored in the interview process, but this seems really unlikely to me.

Hi Laura,

I'm going to guess that you are referring to UBC. To answer your question, there is NO actual GPA cutoff. You need to have above a certain GPA in the prereqs to be elgible to apply, but by no means does this guarantee admission. They try to look at the whole package, not just your grades, although grades do play a big part. You could have the bare minimum as far as grades but totally kickass on the other aspects of you application and get accepted. On the other hand, you can have a 4.0 GPA and get rejected because your supplemental application lacks. I don't think they publish the actual averages of the entering classes, but from what I've heard, its generally about 3.3-3.7 (on pre-req courses). I can give you some more info regarding this stuff, just PM me if you are interested 🙂. Cheers.

I would guess that they mean "We will not even LOOK at anyone with below a 3.11 GPA"

The minimum to apply is down in the 2 point something range (65%). I think the facts were just wrong. I called the school that said that and they said those numbers may have been from 2000. But man, if they were true in 2000, I wish I were applying back then!! 😀
