countdown to sept 13 release

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I am so bored out of my mind. I am gonna start volunteering at a hospice starting Monday, but right now reading the July 24th scores makes me sick to my stomach. I am mostly sick trying to figure out what I got. Hopefully when I start volunteering the days will go by faster.... Damn I wish I had school right now. :scared::scared:

Yeah...I dont know whether to be anxious or extremely worried. I thought I did ok...but the farther I get from test day the worse I am feeling!

two and a half weeks. at least I have a micro test in a week and a half... thatll keep me busy a couple of nights. it gets harder the closer we get to release day (and rightfully so, the last few days before my april test release were miserable)

How come the name of this thread hasnt been changed yet?
As far as I know, the score release is still set for the 12th!

Speakin of, that's soo far away! For 8/9 peeps, that's 34 frickin days!!!

Because this way we won't be as disappointed when the scores don't come out on the 12th, cuz hey, the title of the thread says we're counting down to the 13th!

I feel like I should be more worried... then again, I was never really worried going into the test, so I guess that makes sense.

In any case, I think I'll be distracted enough, because I'm spending the next semester in London, so I'll be getting my scores while I'm out there!

Hmm... I do wish we didn't have to wait, though, it's a tad annoying.

Man, you are so freakin' lucky! I spent a week in London after my senior year with a bunch of my friends from school. That was one of my favorite trips ever. There's so much history in that city, and so much going on, you're going to have a blast!

I was looking into a Study Abroad program my school offers within my major - it's at the University of West England in Bristol, and now I really regret not going one semester. Have a safe trip!

Study Abroad sounds amazing. I never had the guts to do it, i'm too much of a homebody. If I wasn't, I would've spent a trimester in Spain (our university has a program coordinated w University of Seville)...sigh.. It would've been an awesome place to go from being "good" at spanish to being almost fluent.

Had my first MCAT dream/nightmare last night (refer to that thread if interested)

I'll be abroad for the semester at Complutense in Madrid. I hope my home has internet access, otherwise I'll have to find a library that's open til 11 pm to get my scores!

Good luck guys!

I'm sure you can find some type of internet cafe or something that's open 24 hours. Aren't they a really big thing in Europe?

Internet cafes are huge in Europe (and really in almost any other country than Canada and the States). Usually pretty cheap, too. But unless I'm mistaken, in-home internet isn't quite as universal as it is here.

And yeah, your language really develops abroad- obviously not in London, but I did a medical mission (of sorts) program to Honduras earlier in the summer (my school's International Program is huge), and my language just took off.

Amusingly, if you can't fit in going abroad, I hear alcohol is helpful for developing fluency. My roommate in Honduras found that his Spanish was vastly improved after a few beers. Anyone remember that Family Guy episode where Peter can play the piano amazingly well, but only when he's drunk?

But anyway, thanks for the well-wishes! And good luck in Spain, slipstream, I'm planning on traveling there sometime this year!

I'm planning on finding a clinic/hospital to volunteer in to get a really good perspective on medicine in a different culture and what socialized medicine is really all about. I'm really looking forward to it, both in terms of what I'll learn related to medicine and just the huge number of opportunities to learn some helpful specialized terms. Is this the sort of experience you had at the medical mission in Honduras?

As if I needed an excuse!

Slipstream, I really hope you get a chance to do that! I'd start looking for opportunities before you get there, and you might run into trouble if they have different immunization procedures than here, so a little research beforehand would be helpful!

In any case, that's kind of what we were doing in Honduras, except we were more focused on urban and rural third-world health issues. We toured some of the hospitals in the capital (both the crowded, messy public hospitals and the empty, super-fancy private hospitals), then did some shadowing/volunteering in various rural clinics. We also did some health evaluation and education in some elementary schools in some very isolated mountain communities. We encountered tons of problems that you see in poor countries (Honduras is the third-poorest in the Western Hemisphere), like malnutrition, obesity (surprise!), malaria, rampant cavities, and reproductive problems.

So I expect that while some aspects will be the same, your experience in Spain will be much different, though hopefully much more focused than mine! Best of luck!

And as for the booze... just a suggestion to those to whom the thought may not have occurred... =P

You guys think maybe we could stick to score release related posts?

On that note, 15 days and counting!

am i the only one who has checked mcat thx already, knowing full well there's no way that the score would be there but somehow hoping it would be?

You're definitely not the only one. I kinda hope that it just pops up a day or two (or week) early. That way, I won't have the anxiety of logging into the system when I know for sure that my scores will appear. :scared: I already have planned to cover up the screen with a sheet of paper and then slowly move the paper from left to right, as to uncover each subsection score individually. That way I can look at each score and take internalize it for a few seconds before having to move on to the next section. 👍

hahaha now i know i'm not the only one to have considered covering up the screen with a sheet of paper. though I am debating whether to go for the verbal reasoning score first or the total...

i too will do the paper covering method.... im unsure whether to look at the score first and then look at my break down or the other way around..........................................

this wait is killing me.... it's only the most important test of my life... so far.

A good, fun/nerve wrecking idea! I may try that!!

I'm definitely uncovering it in the order of each subsection. Almost like each subsection is a hurdle I have to jump until I reach the finish line, when I find out the final result. I think it goes VR, PS, BS, WS, total. I'm most nervous about VR and BS. Hopefully as I uncover each subsection I'll see a one before anything else...

oh goodie someone else checked so I don have to. usually I'd trust no one but myself, but after an 19 hr day I'm too tired. two weeks from tomorrow!! woohoo!

everybody ready, or is it a mixed feeling? I felt like I knew more tskin the test but in the back of my head I'm thinkin what if u did worse? ahhh... sept 12 arrive alreadyy!!!

I have a bad feeling and it keeps getting worse. But I rather have it over with and get on with it, I have another year to take it so I just wanna see the damn score. :scared:

Oh, are you saying that on the screen from left to right the score is listed as

VR PS BS WS Total
15 15 15 T 45T

Is that correct? So, I'll peel off from the left to the right.
:laugh::laugh: So ridiculous. But, I hope I only get to do this once!

Drizzt actually posted a screenshot of his latest MCAT on another thread that I started:

Sorry to sidetrack the topic there... I tend to do that.

=P

Anyway, would one of you OCD crazies who've been checking daily mind posting the link for checking them? Appreciate it!

Wouldn't we all... 👍

By the way, for my fellow August 14thers, as of 5:00 am, 8/29/07, we are at the halfway point (between the end of the test and the score release). Let's keep up the patience!

its too slow...classes dont start till the 6th, and real classes till the 10th. also had my first mcat-related dream. (actually a nightmare)

i only half qualify but here you go:

no joke... i would be in a state of total euphoria for weeks....

Months, maybe.

We're almost there, guys, almost there! I have a long birthday celebrating weekend (3 family members w/ birthdays this weekend), at least two big tests next week... lots of things to (hopefully) keep me busy. Hang in there, it's almost over!

Ever since my MCAT I haven't posted as regularly as I used to, but I am with all of you in waiting for my scores. And it's nice to see that I'm not the only one who checked the AAMC site for my scores knowing that they are not there. The paper covering thing sounds ingenious! I wish I had thought of that, but I think I will just have my scores appear on the screen. No use in prolonging the torture.

Nope.. we've been tortured long enough. Once they are up, I want to see it all!!
