Countdown until December 1st

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I met another pre-dent (probably not an SDN user) at an interview the other day and she asked me when we hear back. I told her about "Dec. 1st", which she was amazed to hear about.

I actually kind of feel bad. Like what if she figured it would be a few months, so no sweat for a bit, but now she's freaking out like the rest of us these next two weeks.

Explaining the dental school process to family and friends is so much more difficult than it sounds. Concepts like "pre-Dec 1st", "wait list", "deposits", "tuition and fees", and "how difficult it is to get in" are beyond comprehension for them sometimes.

Least favorite compliment from people, "oh.. you'll get in don't worry". If only they knew lol

So much this. Also my first time applying to dental school I got ONE pre dec interview and my family was congratulating me to the point of getting accepted. I was like an interview doesn't mean acceptance!!!

And I proved them wrong by not getting accepted and having to reapply haha.

Dammit, now you're scaring me.

Haha don't worry there's tons of people that get one interview and get accepted which I'm sure you know that already. Also that one interview I had last cycle was literally my first interview ever for anything, so I probably wasn't as good as I hoped I would be.

Where did you interview at and why do you think you didn't get an acceptance?

Ya'll are stressing me out and I don't even apply until June....

Note to self, don't tell family and friends if I get an interview for the sake of not disappointing them.................... (More dots)

Nah don't do that. Just play it down. I've found it's bad to hide things.

Now, if you interviewed pretty early in the cycle, you should expect a reply on december 1st, right? So, even if they decide you should be on the waitlist, you would find out december 1st (if you interviewed with them early on)?

That's not automatically true. I interviewed at MUSC's very first round of interviews last year and didn't get the rejection letter until some time in February or March.

This is pretty much the only tread I look at on SDN anymore now that my interviews are over with. After tomorrow we have to start saying "1 week and x days.."

WAHOO

Good thing I have Fridays off and the weekend will push us closer.

Might be a dumb question but, when schools send emails on December 1st is it only for an acceptance? Or will they email you to reject or waitlisted you too?

The can reject at any time. Acceptance/waitlist will be on and after Dec. 1st.

When I say not true, I mean that schools still send rejections to those who have not interviewed prior to December 1st

Thanks for clarifying!

True, but the original question was pertaining to those who HAVE already had their interviews.

Yup, that's why I was confused. I was almost happy because that would be a good sign for those that interviewed and didn't get a rejection right after.

In half an hour we can say 12 days left!!!
Now, what are you guys going to do if you get the call on Dec 1st?
My answer: throw a freggin acceptance party! We all deserve it!

Just sittin' here like  because most of my pre-Dec interviews haven't even happened yet.

I was really excited to get any acceptance on December 1st but lately i've been feeling I won't be happy unless I get into my top choice.

Actually there's 12 days and 23 hours left 🙂

Can we start overestimating instead of under when we're counting down? It feels like a lie the same way 9.99 is 10 dollars not 9 dollars.😵

I'mma lead by example: There are now 13 days left !!!!!!!!!!! (<-- energy)

edited days left because I can't count
