The fiance and I want to couples match with both of us going into anesthesia.
We both have competative board scores (>245) and fairly strong applications. My thoughts are to apply to bigger programs and big cities. Any thoughts/advice? "except for "don't get married"

thanks

we have a married couple that matched at my program. Its a big program 15-20 residents per year, in a big city. If they were able to match together, i'm sure the two of you should be able to as well.

If you are going to cities with multiple equivalent programs, I'd try to match at different programs. I think it would be weird to have a couple in the same department. I mean if you love the same place then go for it, but all else being equal, I'd spread out.

With your stats I think you both should be fine as long as your interviews go well. That being said, there are many cities that have several programs (ie Boston, NYC, Chicago, Cleveland, etc), so you wouldn't even have to be at the same program.

There are/have been several married couples in my program. If anything, I think it is a plus that they can relate well to eachother's experiences. Albeit, my program is large, and we rotate through several sites, so it's not like they run into each other at work everyday.
