anyone who couples matched last year? suggestions advice? I'm going for Peds and Med/Peds while my fiance is going for Ortho. Should I be asking the places I've been offered interviews at to contact the ortho dept to see if fiance will be offered an interview? what is the proper etiquette in the process? I've been offered 7 interviews up till now, he has none but apparently it is early for ortho. He's very competitive, I'm avg but appropriate for peds.

any info would be helpful thanks!!!

I couples matched last year (me in peds and my fiance in IM) and we definitely had a decent amount of success with calling programs and telling them that one of us had gotten an interview and the other one hadn't heard anything yet. Well, I guess it went both ways. A few times the programs would say, "no problem, you can have an interview too" and a few times the program would say "sorry, we weren't planning on offering you an interview." But honestly, that was helpful too because I didn't want to be setting up interviews (and plane tickets) for places that my fiance wouldn't be going to in the end.

Now to be honest, I think it's probably a little easier to do this for IM than it is for ortho, especially since from what I've heard ortho tends to take a while to offer interviews and they usually only have a few dates. But I think that if you don't hear within a week or so you should go for it. Just remember to be nice because the people answering the phones remember your name more than you think they will!!

Any other questions about couples matching - especially when it comes to rank list time - feel free to ask. Good luck! 😀
