Does one have to take a certain amount courses that correspond to one's year of study? For example, in my thrid I took three courses at the third year level, while taking two in the second year level. Fourth year, I took two courses in the second year level, 2 courses in the fourth year level, and one third year level. Basically, do they care what courses I take as long as I have the prereq's??

I assume by 'they' you mean dental schools. No, they don't care what order you take your courses just as long as you finish your degree and complete all necessary prereqs.

nah just take enough classes to satisfy the pre-req.

I don't have a science related degree, I just took random smattering of science classes here and there throughout my UG years until I satisfied the requirements.

The order I think is good to follow is...

1st year: Gen Chem with lab and English, Calc (if required)
2nd year: Organic Chem, Biology
3rd year: Physics
4th year: Some dental schools require BioChem, I would suggest taken it senior year.

That would certainly work. If, however, you are getting a degree in a science field, you could try:


1st year
General Biology I & II
General Chemistry I & II

2nd year
Organic Chemistry I & II
Physics I & II

3rd year
Biochemistry I & II
2 upper level science course (Physiology, Microbiology)

4th year
3-5 upper level science courses (Genetics, Embrology, Cell Biology)
