Hi,
I took a certificate program a few years ago (think CNA, EMT, Phlebotomy, etc.) and was reading somewhere online that it has to be reported on AMCAS and AACOMAS.
I emailed the continuing education department, and they sent me over an unofficial transcript where the course had the semester it was taken, course code, course title, hours (48), and grade (96 which they said translated to an A?). The representative also said that there are no credits involved in this program since it is a certificate program, but the AMCAS website said all grades have to be reported if it is through a post-secondary institution (this course was done at my local college).
I asked registrar to convert it to an official transcript as suggested by AAMC, but they said they are unable to do so. The AAMC application guide states that a letter is required from them explaining why there is no official letter grade/official transcript available and how many credits the course equivalent is, and that the letter must be sent with the transcript request form as well as the unofficial transcript. The problem is, the registrar is only able to send things electronically and not by mail, but AMCAS explicitly states that they don't accept transcript emails unless it is through an official service like Clearinghouse. Given that this would not be an official transcript, they would be unable to order it through Clearinghouse. In addition, because registrar is not on campus due to covid, they informed me they're unable to mail the documents either.
I'm surprised there's even a possibility that this course can count towards GPA. Do I need to report this course on my application? If so, how would I go about doing that given it cannot be emailed OR mailed at the moment? Thanks in advance for all your help!
