I'm signing up for classes right now, and I'd like to take a statistics class before my application cycle, also it happens to be a requirement for my major.

However, the class title begins with BIOL. It's a Biological Statistics class, will AMCAS still consider it a pure statistics class, or is it going to be seen as a biology course?

In other words, do I need to take a STAT class or will this biology class do?

I think you will be OK. But, I would contact schools that have a stats requirement and ask them to be sure.

The better question is "Will individual medical schools consider this a stats class for purposes of fulfilling their prereqs?" The answer to that is most of them will not count this, so be aware of that and research the schools you wish to apply to in order to check on their math prereqs and policies. A lot of schools say it has to be in the math or stats department, and specifically say stats for business or biology don't count
