I was looking at some courses to take over the summer at a local community college when I realized that I didn't really know which course I should take. Does anyone have any suggestions about courses I should take? It doesn't have to be something that will help me get into college, it just has to be something that will be easy for a rising sophomore in high school to deal with and that isn't extremely boring. Thanks in advance!

Psychology, english, philosophy... general education classes that colleges require for everyone to graduate.

OK. Thanks. Right now I am debating between psychology, philosophy, and sociology. I'm pretty much leaning towards psychology, though.

Psychology seems like a good choice. It's easier than some other subjects not mainly because of the material that you learn, but because it's interesting to generally find out how people think, and when you're interested in the subject, the material tends to be easier to retain. Is there any chance you'd take AP Psychology?

Yea, that's what I was thinking, especially since I have family who have majored in psychology. I always thought it was interesting. There is a chance that I take AP Psychology, but if I take a college course there would be no need to take the AP one, right?

True, you'd be earning the same credit, but if you see yourself as a competitive college applicant, an AP course might look better than a dual enrollment course because AP is known to be more rigorous and challenging than dual enrollment, although I must say that psychology isn't that bad at all. It probably wouldnt make much of a difference, but if you are only planning on taking a few AP courses throughout high school, this extra one could help your resume.

The thing about AP courses is that my school doesn't offer them, so I would have to study for it by myself and then take the test, while dealing with my other classes and anything extra I might be doing at the time. If AP Psych is relatively easy then I should just take that and then take a different course. The next class I was considering was Intro to Sociology, so maybe I should just take that one.

I'm a dual enrollment student & the first courses I took were over the summer & they were english and algebra because I needed them both for High School and College. When I was comfortable with taking CC classes I went on & took psych, Bio, microbio, anatomy, chem etc. because I want to be in the medical field. I also take classes like humanities & speech because I need them to graduate. Always use ratemyprofessors... Very important

If you have any questions about Dual enrollment you can always PM me

I would take English, but it already started. I think I'm just going to choose between Philosophy and Sociology, even though I was thinking about PoliSci as well. Which one, in your opinion, would be best for me to take?

Well that depends. Take philosophy if you want to know whether or not the tree made a sound when it fell and nobody was around to hear it😎

Nah really choose the one you'll enjoy and succeed in. Better to have A's now, so if ur 11th and 12th grade years are hard, you have a nice GPA to fall back on from earlier.

I don't know, that's the issue. I have always been interested in Philosophy, but I think it would be harder than what I am used to. Still, the challenge would be interesting and I like challenges, so maybe I should go with Philosophy, not Sociology.
