Looking for some help finding the covid vaccine for my father in law. He lives in Long Island and running into problems. He is 82 but still not able to get an appointment. He had one at wags but showed up and they said he want in the list. We are trying the cvs website and it just keeps crashing/going In circles. We Live in the southeast so. It familiar with NY process. Can anyone give advice?

I thought you could schedule it through this? If it says no appointments I think you just keep trying.

Try also searching for NYU and Northwell covid vaccine I believe they have locations on Long Island and are scheduling appointments.

One option is to get online at like 7am est and try cvs type clinic to see if appointment pops up. Few weeks ago, I read that it was the magic time they open up appointments. I don't know if it is true still but I bet there is specific time retail places do that.

Option two is to find nearest NYS DoH site and focus on that. To me, that's the easiest one. Some of these are massive and do 5000+ shots a day. Some are 24 hours and switch vaccines they use for overnight. I know plenty of people who got appointment day of or day before their shot. People were coming from 2-3 hours away. However, this is not close to Long Island. I can't comment on location specific clinics.

Also, there are allocations going to smaller pop up clinics... Churches etc. They are trying to accommodate patients who can't drive.

thanks - only thing they have open is Yankee stadium for Bronx residents only :-(

This seriously seems screwed up as down here we are getting everybody 65+ and a large majority of "essential workers" who are younger

NYS DOH website for listings/locations/booking appointments...good luck is all I'll say. Have been having people mash that "refresh" button around midnight on CVS website for trying to get appointments. J & J version just rolled out in my area this week (hopefully more will pop up soon...convenience/more readily availability = trade off of efficacy and needing 2 shots)

Ya. it is non NYC site for DoH. Probably 10% rate on no shows and or double booked appointments. I hope they fix that somehow, otherwise it just creates too many unused slots going to waste.

seems crazy that wags and cvs show no slots, and none of the indy's have been able to get. It sounds like the Nassau collessium will be a max vaccination site within a week or two

Try Walgreens in Shirley. My parents were able to get a appointment out there. Also, is he a Veteran? He can goto VA Northport get one for free.

His best bet really is the DoH. If he calls 833-697-4829, they might be able to find him a spot if other people cancels. He might have to travel a bit though. I know a lot of people were going to the Jones Beach for the shots.

In terms of CVS, we only recently started doing the shots (this Sat) and it's a short term testing period in select stores. We only do 15 shots a day and it seems people were making the appointments at 6-8am so maybe check around that time. Also, if he is a patient of CVS, we do have a standby list in case someone cancels. If he's has a good relationship with them maybe they can bump him up the list. For example, someone cancelled on me today so I called one of my patient (107 years old) to come in on short notice.

thanks - wags is saying no availability at this moment - unfortunately not a veteran (only ROTC which I am sure doesn't count)

Good luck. In areas hit hard by COVID, like NYC, the demand is far greater than the supply at this point.
