I understand there is lots of bad politics about China and how they're kicking our a$$ and taking our lunch money but these numbers are just appalling...

The latter. Also China's numbers are somewhat suspect, but they have handled it better than the US. That wasn't hard to do though.

If I recall correctly, they have an app that almost everybody there has that keep track of people’s movement within the country and using this data, they force people to go into quarantine

obviously, this method is highly effective, but would never ever be utilized in the West

One of the few benefits of autocracy is that when the leader is actually acting in the best interest of the populace and says to do something, you really, truly have to do it. Now China is a terrible place with zero freedom and with an active genocide program against Muslims going full steam ahead. But in that single case scenario, there is a benefit to the people.

Not like liberal democracy. We let you do whatever the hell you want. Up to and including being a nation full of Typhoid Marys allowing a devastating virus kill over half a million people. The risk of a stupid populace screwing everything up is much higher. But, on the other hand, I can do just about whatever I want. Some liberal democracies did great. We didn't. We are stupid.

It is what it is. Like they say, freedom ain't free.

I don’t think they spread it on purpose like many conspiracies. But I do think they hid the severity of this disease from rest of the world once it started spreading outside.

I was calling for China like lockdowns back in March 2020, they called me a madman and that you cannot do that in the United States.

New Zealand seems to have done a good job at stopping it (much smaller country and an island also though).

OP is implying that Covid pandemic and release of the virus was an intentional act. His proof... the country of its origin had relatively low number of cases.

I guess we can add other countries with low number of cases to this conspiracy. I am just waiting to find out who had a vaccine for this 5 years ago and secretly inoculated their population before pandemic happened.

Their numbers are BS. Let’s be honest. There is no way they have only 90,000 cases while virus spread from them to the rest of the world and killed millions.

As I said I don’t believe they did that on purpose to rule the humanity. But they most definitely lied about the numbers and severity of the disease. Why? Because were they too embarrassed to admit they screwed up to rest of the world and their own people? Possibly. Communist government cares deeply about the sentiment of their public to avoid rebellion so it’s entirely common for them to fake the numbers to make themselves look macho.

I mean we have a mayor in the US who lied and manipulated the numbers so it’s not a stretch to imagine that other countries/leaders have as well.

Having said that this thread has an agenda not in line with SDN values. Hate crimes in the US against Asians have increased and threads about how China deliberately released the virus to rule the world or have otherwise lied about the virus are not productive/helpful.
