Considering that Fauci and other leaders are worried about another wave in the fall, I think the odds of no in-person or at least a two-tiered system are high.
Agreed, I think some personality flaws will be harder to detect with Zoom. Saw several rude applicants during the cycle will probably go unnoticed during virtual interviews.I wonder if we should be worried about the personalities of our co-residents.
Interview impressions are the #1, #2, and #3 factor in rank list order for a reason (no I am not exaggerating). I worry that interviewing over Zoom is going to lose most of the filter for the psycho/annoying/rude/whatever. Same thing with potential aways/auditions and other LoR issues. This cycle is def gonna favor the people who are better on paper
Where did you hear this from ? They are in all liklihood going to screen the same way and interview more candidates , since they will have more applications. Now that in person interviews are not allowed across the board, have any of you guys heard if residencies are changing the way they screen applicants? I have heard that some residency programs maybe using secondary applications prior to interviews just like in medical school. What do you guys think about this?
I've only heard about secondaries on other sites like reddit, but more geared for IM residencies. Not sure if it's a rumor though.Where did you hear this from ? They are in all liklihood going to screen the same way and interview more candidates , since they will have more applications.
There is ZERO chance that they are going to start reading every page of an application. They will sort by step, sort by school, sort by aoa, and then look at research. Once they send out an interview and recievew and accept they will start looking more deeply into an applicaiton.

I spoke to two PDs in two disperate fields very recently neither of them had any real idea oh how this was going to play out. I'd love to hear more about what you classmate had actually heard, but the short answer is no one knows how this is going to play out, But I am confident that no PD is going to read 400 applications in detail to screen for interviews so asking for secondary essays seems like a stretch. But I believe ENT trialed this a few years back with mixed results.I heard it from my classmate who is applying to surgery and not sure who they have heard this from. I just wanted to see if anybody else had heard anything about it.

If they did do this, the only secondaries they'd be getting from me are a copy paste version with the name changed
That would be a disaster. There’s probably going to more over-application than ever before this year. Why in the name of whatever deity would they want more information to read? Now that in person interviews are not allowed across the board, have any of you guys heard if residencies are changing the way they screen applicants?
