Predate for June/July batch was July 9, so time for a new thread, perhaps?

Anyone who has taken the exam during this newest batch want to describe what their exam was like and give us their insights?

Thank you in advance!

I've been hearing that there will be a QA starting around 8/8. Can anyone in CA currently studying for the CPJE confirm the QA?

I'm out of state so I'm not too familiar with it other than I know that the Board will take even longer to grade exams, is that right?

I know they haven't done a QA for a very long time. How did you hear about having a QA for the upcoming batch? Don't they announce it after the batch is over?

Hello my fellow peeps. I took the exam today, 7/25/19 and felt like crap afterwards. I am not a natural test taker so I found myself at times picking the wrong answer of two. If you haven’t taken it before it’s multiple choice, simple A thru D, no k type questions. There were a few things that really crushed my world. Here are some things to include with your studies, renal dosing, sulfa allergy (not just Bactrim there’s a lot more to it), Immunizations. Understand the different vaccines, what age group/population it is intended for, what it protects you from and how it is transmitted. Lastly, know your antibiotics. Given a super random infection, how do you treat? I got a good 20 questions wrong so far overall and I want to vomit. The sad part is, if I had more time to study I wouldn’t have focused on these things necessarily so I really did the best I could for right now. Cheers to the waiting game. Best of luck to anyone taking this torturous exam anytime soon. Hope this helps.

Is there anything good you can say about the test? (e.g. There were not so many random brand names. Few law and pharmacy operations types of questions which were easy to guess!

Did you get HIV or chemo questions?

I know this exam is tough. I hope you pass though. 15 of the exam questions are pre-test questions.

There were probably two questions with random B/G I didn't know and also two Bacterial diseases I was unfamiliar with. With that said, it's a short exam. Anything missed hurt. Also, there weren't any HIV/chemo on my version but don't stop studying bc mine didn't have it. The exam was so broad in topics. The questions themselves were worded super simple. It's whether or not you happened to study that material or can distinguish the most correct answer, it was super frustrating.

My personal experience:
1. Brand/Generic and indications were very fair and straightforward. I think it is because my 5 years of retail experience really helped.
2. I had a couple of questions and answers where the wording confused me so take your time reading them
3. I used RxPrep NAPLEX and CPJE course and test bank. I watched the videos for CPJE (about 5 hours) twice and typed everything that the lecturers said. It was enough of law knowledge for the exam.
4. Personally, I think the exam focuses more on clinical than law but who really knows XD
5. You cannot go back to the previous questions. It is all or nothing.
6. I finished in 1.5 hours because I am usually just a quick test taker...I don't stick and ponder and hope it comes to me because it won't.
7. The exam questions are not designed to trick you. They just want to take sure you know your most basic clinical knowledge as a pharmacist.
8. If you feel that you are not ready for the exam, postpone it (it is free if you do it 2 days before). I personally postpone it 3 times XD.

As someone who has taken the CPJE multiple times, I have to strongly disagree with this comment. The CPJE is designed to trick you and it is not an exam of the most basic clinical knowledge as a pharmacist. This would also explain why the CPJE pass rate is at a 60% and why many people have a difficult time passing it on their first try. To the OP, maybe you're referring to the NAPLEX? But CPJE definitely requires you to go beyond your basic clinical knowledge because it asks much more detailed questions that you would only find in the package insert. Even as a licensed and practicing pharmacist now, I don't think I could pass the CPJE again without re-studying for it thoroughly.

Just thought I'd clear up the air for future test takers so they're not misled to think that the CPJE is an easy exam. Because it isn't.

It really depends on the exam....I honestly think I was really luck to get drugs that I knew. The HIV question was challenging but as long as you it break it down, you can figure it out. I started studying for NAPLEX and CPJE since May (and not working any hours) and I am still reading the RxPrep book every day.

CPJE is difficult because the number of questions is 90 (15 is taken out for quality assurance purpose) so you really do have to know your material back and forth. Wording on the exam was what I had a problem with. There were a couple of questions that I did not understand specifically what it was asking for 🙁. It is all in done now for me and will only know when the result comes out.

Hey, So if we havnt taken our CPJE yet and they are not allowing us to schedule it due to the investigation. Does anyone know what happens if this investigation isnt over before our our expiration time to take CPJE. My time expires in Dec 6th, I was going to take the exam Oct 26th but they cancelled it. Not sure if i will get my money back or they will extend my time....

I'm supposed to have til April 2020 to take CPJE.
Been re-reading RxPrep book while working fulltime to prepare for the exam.
When I finally tried to register for it on PSI, on 10/21/19 it said my eligibility ended on 10/16/19.
Called PSI, they agreed that I'm supposed to be able to register til April 2020, and said it's most likely due to the investigation.
PSI is waiting on the update from CABOP; I believe they are not accepting new applicants and those who were scheduled after the investigation, got their registration canceled.
I emailed CABOP, but not expecting any answer.

Do you have any update yet? I'm in the same boat 🙁

Hey,

I did contact the board and they said the eligibility should get back to normal on November 20th. We should be able to take the exam afterwards.
