I just took my 4th CDR and got a 15. That's the score I started with and it's just not improving!! i'm freaking out! I'm retaking my DAT in less than a month and my previous reading score was a 15! I tried several methods and what seemed to work best for me was answering the questions as I read the passage. did anyone get 15-16 on CDR but got a better score on the DAT? I'm running out of ideas here as to how to improve!

Are you just taking the tests with different methods? That is important to do to see what works best for you but if nothing is working then make sure you go over all of your answers to see why you are getting it wrong. The method you are using may be the right one but you might not be understanding exactly what the question is asking. I found CDR to be a fairly good representation of the real test, plus RC is hard to study for because other than CDR and Topscore there arent many ways to study for it.

Just keep reviewing your answers and when you review, analyze exactly what the question is looking for because they can be tricky and practice your timing as well

Good luck studying

I agree with OUDent. I have CDR, Achiever, and a program called Godfrey for DAT RC which is EXTREMELY HARD. I just switch between the 3 every now and again. You NEED to find a strategy which works for you and just keep going at it. Im pretty sure most schools have an RC cutoff of 17, so you need to try and get that. What I do sometimes, is if I don't feel like doing an entire RC test, is I just do one passage and give myself a 20 minute time limit. I have also seen recent acceptances from students with 16 RC's as well. Good luck and finish strong! (Im writing my DAT next month as well..AHH :scared:).

Thank you for your help. Yes, I did only one passage using different methods (a different passage for every method) and this one seems to be the least time consuming one. I'll just keep practicing. It's my only option. And I just purchased Godfrey which as I hear is really hard and I'll probably score around 12 with it, I don't know. Hopefully practicing willl pay off on the test day.

Thanks again

I'm having the same problem. I took the first three tests for CDR and i've scored a 17,18, and another 17. I tried out three different strategies and the scores are consistently mediocre. I used the key method proposed by kaplan and ran out of time, and most recently I used the search and destroy method which is great for time efficiency but less accuracy. I need to find a balance, so I'm going to believe in the power of repetition.
