I emailed the makers of crack pat about this but have not gotten anything back yet.

How are they scoring the PAT tests, or how is it scored in general?

Here is where I am confused. I got 75/90 questions correct which is what the program said was a score of 21. I verified the 75/90 correct to be true after going through it again.

If the total amount is out of 30, then (75/90) 30 = 25, so why is it a 21?

Are there certain sections that are weighted, or is it scored in a way that i'm not aware of? 😕

The way the grades scale for each section isn't linear, meaning that the percentage you get right doesn't correspond to your percentile score. Scoring a 25 is around the 99th percentile, meaning you'd need to get maybe 3 or 4 wrong in total.

Mcoope- Thanks for the clarification, I didn't know that.

The CrackDAT people got back to me yesterday and pretty much clarified what you said for anyone else who is curious.

"The scoring of the DAT is based on the conversion of your raw score (sum of correct answers) into a standard score between 1 and 30, which can be used to compare your performance to the performances of other test-takers. For example, if you get 67 out of 90, then 67 is your raw score which gets converted onto the scale of 1 to 30 per a curve. A 22 ranks in the 97.1% percentile and usually need a raw score of 78-80 questions out of 90. To aim for a 20, it is in the 88.5% percentile and need approximately 70-73 questions correct. I hope this clarifies your inquiry."
