I am looking to take the DAT in the early portion of 2016 (late winter beginning of spring). I am in my last few courses of pre-dent reqs and was wondering what everyone would suggest for DAT preparation?

I have the Kaplan text, but individuals have told me its good to read, but not good for intense studying. I was looking at online options and Crack the DAT looks pretty detailed, but I don't want to waste money if it turns out to be a flop.

Any advice.. TIA!

Not worth it in my opinion. CrackDAT's PAT, RC, and QR sections are moderately useful as additional practice but still not the best preparation out there in any of those subjects. The science sections are pretty much useless.

kaplan sucks in general :They dont prepare their students well because the materials they use are 35-40% extraneous to actual DAT material.

Use the DAT Destroyer, Bootcamp and Crack Dat Ace Edition. All of which are the most cost effective and efficient in studying for the DAT. These programs will narrow the scope of the material on the exam far more than kaplan, and (not to be rude) Feralis notes will.

Its pretty unanimous that utilizing these study outlets will get you a high score.

I wouldn't worry about being rude if he got a 30 on the bio section with his notes and you got a 21 not recommending them. Results speak for themselves and if OP wants narrowed scope for the bio section they should start with Cliff Notes AP Biology and work there way up from there.

Thats true, I got a 21 on bio and in the time span of a month of studying. Also if you scan reviews for feralis notes, the vast majority make the exact claim that it covers extraneous material---to the point where it becomes deleterious. Im not saying that the notes are bad at all, theyre inclusive and very informative. I was mentioning the rude comment because of the post preceding mine. The comment I was making was a point of generality for the typical student.

In nearly every forum you post some annoying pointless and argumentative comment. Stop being such a scrub and go do something better with your time.

Im sure there's even one girl out the there for you!!

@PlasmaMembrane

Actually the reason the destroyer has so much success is because they modulate and reinforce the questions from previous DAT exams. Furthermore the DAT recycles questions so as a result you have a much more narrowed and focused study regimen.

Keep being a scrub bud, it's hilarious

You're actually suggesting someone limit their review of biology to only Destroyer questions without a content review. Wow. No wonder you capped out at a 21 in biology.

I said it earlier but I'll repeat it for OP's benefit: listen to the people that do exceptionally well and not this guy.

Couldn't agree more with Plasma here. Don't limit your study resource to just Destroyer questions. You need to build a strong foundation for biology first before you tackle the Destroyer questions. This foundation can be acquired from Feralis notes, college science books, and Cliff AP biology book.
