Crack the PAT Cube counting

Are you guys even practicing with this? I am trying to do it so I could gain some speed in counting the cubes, but they have some funny optical illusion effects and its driving me insane!

Yeah some of their cubes are a little crazy. Crack is good for everything, but I would say that Cube counting will probably be about the same degree of difficulty with any other source you are using (Kaplan, Achiever, Topscore) so maybe practice those instead.

How long does it take everyone to complete the the cube counting? I am taking about 10mins, so that is a little slow I think 🙁.

On the DAT there are no illusions so dont worry if you are getting those wrong on CRACK. Just see how long it takes you to do the normal ones and extrapolate your scores on the normal ones and your times on normalm ones. Ignore the rediculous ones.

Have you tried doing the "tally" method? I have found this to be by far the best way to approach cube counting and save a lot of time.

On your sheet write

And go through the whole figure once. Every time you see a cube of that side, say a 3 sided, put a hash mark down next to the 3. That way you only have to go through the cube one time for 3-5 questions and it makes it go by much quicker.

For me, the best way for cube counting is to just straight up count them without writing anything down. Just imagine you running your fingers through the whole object while touching the sides of each cube. It takes a good 2 hours to get fast at cube-counting w/o making that stupid chart.

If you are going to count the whole thing anyways, why not just make a chart to keep track of your progress?

Yea, I have been doing that but it takes me a good ten minutes. I am just paranoid that I will make a counting error, so I might be going slower than I should.
