We all know by now that pediatricians see patient's up to age 21, but could a pediatrician see older patients?

Here is why I'm asking:

http://www.aafp.org/x782.xml

by reading this, it looks like pediatricians see patients up to age 64...
someone please enlighten me! 😳

Maybe they're including specialists? I know that sometimes specialists (i.e. Ped Cards) may continue to see patients long into adulthood because the adult specialists may not feel as comfortable with congenital abnormalities, etc. Or maybe it is just a typo 😳

I've seen old people on peds services, but only if their problem is one from childhood, such as a congenital defect/abnormality. So, suncoast is right.

maybe a peds doc should see you kas, you know, because of your small, deformed, congenital vagina. Or maybe for that tiny head and brain of yours that hasn't grown since you were 2.
Peace ,
