Call this crazy situation....
I have spent almost 10 years being the "perfect premed student." Done everything by the book, with the exception that my mcat scores were horrible. However, that didn't stop me...I took the mcat a couple of times & applied a couple of times too...just when I was going to give up, I got accepted to one. Unfortunately, personal stress, traumatic experiences + med school stress forced me to leave & have to reapply.
I spent a year looking for other careers, but it always brings me back to the medical field & how I loved it. Doctors say, "if you're called, it doesn't leave you no matter what." So now, my first thought is i have to take the dreaded mcats again (arrrggg!). I am not even sure where I stand in the admissions process at this point; others suggest foreign med school; other say nursing... i still love medicine despite all the turmoil in the career- what can I say, if you're called, u'll love it. So what do you say to someone who's been there, done it & lost it?

congratulations on your acceptance! you sound like you really wanted it, so you deserve it and am sure will work hard during your med school years.

where is your acceptance from?

UMM... If you read the sentence just after that, they say that they had to drop out...Maybe you should read the whole post instead of skimming.

To the OP: I would call admissions offices and talk to admissions directors about reapplying. They might have some helpful advice for you!

sorry, didn't mean to offend anybody geez. i guess i read the "just when I was going to give up, I got accepted to one. " and missed the part about having to leave.

to the OP: sounds like you have the drive to attack your dream. hopefully your situation now is less stressful for you so you can put the work into it once you get in. the adcoms will want you to address how it's different for you this time around, obviously. if you are still bitten by the bug, you should go for it, or you'll be thinking about it with regret the rest of your life!

I would resolve your issues : "personal stress, traumatic experiences + med school stress" and establish a support network ( if you don't have one) before beginning a program again. Medical school stress will always be there and so will "life". How these issues that come up in life are dealt with is where the challenge lies.

Good luck with your applications!

Many schools are understanding of these kinds of situations, and will allow students to decelerate. Was this not an option for you?
