What is the new volunteer position? You'd benefit most from increasing the hours at the soup kitchen to 200 or 250 by the time you submit apps.

Georgetown desires updates and letters of intent, so that is something you can try if you do not receive an A from VCU. I am unsure how competitive WSU's WL is since the school is essentially entirely WA residents.

Try to work on mock interviews for both MMI and traditional style interviews. Your undergrad may offer these services to alumni through either the premed or career services office.

Try the following if you end up having to reapply:

Hi! Thank you for your response. The new volunteer position is being a dance/music buddy to children with disabilities. The reason I’m picking up a new opportunity is because my soup kitchen volunteering schedule will clash with my work schedule in the new job :// I thought it would also be nice to experience working with a new population. I have sent an LOI to Georgetown so I’ll wait for a couple weeks before sending an update about my new positions.

I will definitely keep that school list in mind, may I ask how you put it together?

It includes additional schools that you'd be competitive for from a stats range and accept a good deal of OOS applicants regardless of any ties to the area. Schools like Harvard and Northwestern were unrealistic and as you saw, you did not get interest from them. Western Michigan, Creighton, EVMS etc are similar to VCU and Georgetown where you did receive interviews.

I see, that makes a lot of sense. Do you think it would make sense to apply DO too? I don’t think I would want to apply again after a reapp

Yes. if you want to ensure an acceptance, you can apply DO. They historically request either an MD or DO letter, you can get this from someone at your job and put it on Interfolio if you have not already done so. You can also check what the following schools say on their website regarding that. I suggest:

PNWU
Western NW
PCOM
DMU
Touro NV
Touro CA
KCU (Kansas City University in MO)
LECOM Erie

Okay, this is super helpful, thank you so much!!

From the popular Excel sheet that gets passed around, VCU has an incredibly high OOS acceptance rate (IIRC, around 70%). So it looks good for getting off the WL or getting accepted tomorrow—hopefully, your reapplication plans get cancelled tomorrow! VCU also doesn't overaccept, so acceptances slowly roll out as people withdraw/don't accept offers.

I agree hopefully you'll get an offer somewhere soon.

If you are looking for improvements, we have addressed the need for more food bank or similar service orientation activities. You are doing a lot with refugees or immigrants, so I can surmise Georgetown's affinity for you activities, including the newest volunteer position. It would be more effective had your work included more under (food distribution, covered), shelter volunteering (maybe something to build off your women's empowerment club), job/tax preparation, legal support (also women's empowerment link?), transportation services, or housing rehabilitation.

I don't know to what extent you articulated your purpose as a physician and potential connection to refugee/immigrant populations in your applications, but make sure your hours back up your purpose. The 2700 hours at a derm clinic connection... I need to know more.

You should get an A from WSU.
