Crazy Stuff Fellow Interviewers Have Said

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I went on an El Azteca rampage for a few months but I found Palaminos in Clairemont Mesa to be better! As well as Machos Taco Shop in Rancho San Diego.

Also totally agree on Sushi Deli. So bomb!
We gotta team up in KC and find the good stuff.

(in reference to an ethics scenario posed by an interviewer)

"She kept asking me what would happen in <scenario>, but I kept telling her I thought it was very unlikely to happen."

(said scenario had a reasonable chance of happening.)

Oklahoma Joe's for some awesome bbq!

I already have this place on my radar. I actually was going to go there after my interview but accidentally took a wrong turn and I got stuck in traffic. If I would have turned around and gone I would have missed my flight. I ended up grabbing some BBQ in the Hilton hotel and it was STILL bomb. I literally can't wait to try Oklahoma Joes!

If you go to acceptance day lemme know we can spout out all these places!

Wasn't an interview, it was at an open house at a osteopathic school close by. We were getting the tour in the cadaver lab when some lady (mid 30s early 40s) said: "so these are really dead people?" The guide politely says "yes they all have given their physical bodies to science" and the lady says "omg they smell way better than I imagined"

Everyone 25 and younger just wanted to face palm sooo bad.

As we were walking out she says "I hope I can take another class instead of this one if I get accepted" WHAT?!

Just go away!!!

One guy said "talk to me if you want to know about having babies." And then gave a creepy grin...

But I guess its all in the placement... he was a total sketch ball who did not even wear a tie to the interview. It was almost like he wasnt someone interviewing but just some dude on the streets who saw people walking in a building and decided to follow haha.

I always hear Cali has the best mexican food. I wonder why that is.

I think its settled then.

Cali =sushi and Mexican food

Midwest =BBQ

NY=pizza bagels Chinese takeout and delis

Florida = Latin america food

Chicago = casseroles and jibaritos (pending goros ruling of course)

MD = Crabs man... Big ole Maryland blues and crab cakes. Its insane. I have literally dreamt about cracking open some crabs since I moved to the midwest.

Ahh yes Maryland crabs are for sure their staple.

While we are at it might as well through in Boston for their clam chowder.

Being from Maryland, I wish I could like this statement more than once! I can always unlike and keep liking it hahaha

Do Bostonians even know what real BBQ is? Come to Alabama and we'll show you some comfort food.

I am from upstate NY and love BBQ and I have to say, it is difficult to find respectable BBQ around, not impossible though. When I was in Boston a few times I did find some respectable BBQ, it was not of the caliber that I had in various southern locales but it was quite good for New England.

If we are talking BBQ you need not go further... Downtown Milwaukee holds this little jewel nestled among sky scrapers haha

Though I am pumped to live in KC where BBQ was born. I feel like all I will be doing in July, while I am waiting for school to start, is working out and eating BBQ.

I'd totally go there! That has the look of a place that would make dynamite BBQ.

Working out + BBQ = zero net result

I recently hit oklahoma joes, arthur bryants, and gates during my interview at kcumb.

OK joe had the best ribs, art bryants had the best sauce. Next time, I will combine forces for BBQ orgasmo explosion.

One fellow interviewer kept ragging on the Midwest [we were at a school in the midwest] loudly, frequently, throughout the day. We were talking about different restaurants/cuisines at lunch, and this interviewer said he/she would never dare eat sushi outside of [insert coastal city here]. I was aware of the "fly over country" mentality, but had never encountered it in such extreme... it was pretty distasteful and made me wonder why he/she even bothered to come!

Side note: having nightmares that these people read SDN and they will be all, "THAT WAS ME, STAHP IT!"

Edit: best part is that I'm pretty sure this interviewer wasn't even aware that lots of fish that is in sushi, like tuna, must also be frozen/flown to the particular coastal city that he/she referenced. Gah.

The bolded is so true. I'm from MD so obviously I love crabs. But most crabs served in restaurants in MD are not even caught in MD. Also, I went to California and I was sooo excited to see what West Coast seafood was all about. I ordered some oysters at a restaurant and asked where they were from. It turns out they were caught in Virginia. -______-

Like I said, when you come to Cali, its for the Mexican food.

Just a fun thread...hopefully it takes off.

I know that in my interviews I have heard some of the interviewees say some crazy stuff. I'll start it off. Feel free to share! Also, PLEASE keep the school and interviewee anonymous.

-So during the school tour we were in a simulation lab and someone yells "can you make the woman giving birth say realistic things like oh crap, oh my God, it hurts so bad!"
YESSSSSS. I remember this. What the heck? The look on the sim tech's face was like....
