Hi everyone. Just wondering if I'm in over my head applying for combined BS/MD programs or if my creds. really are okay. I will apply regardless of what people here say, but I'd still appreciate any feedback. Thanks.

Overall HS GPA unweighted: 96.0%
Overall HS GPA Weighted: 110.9%
Class Rank: 2 (out of 360 - my HS is small!)

AP's:
Junior Year - English 11 (5) US History (4) Bio (4)
Senior Year - Calc AB, English 12, European History, Chemistry
*my school does not offer a whole lot of AP's, plus the way our class scheduling works I really couldn't have taken more than this.

SAT:
1st time: 2190 -- cr 720 math 720 wr 750
2nd time: 2280 -- cr 750 math 760 wr 770
subject tests: bio (730) math II (730)

Extracurriculars:
treasurer of Student Council Class of 2011 (9-12th grade)
treasurerer of and violinist in Concert Orchestra (9-12th grade)
member of varsity swim team (8th-12th grade)
member of Kappa Alpha Tau National Honor Society (11-12th grade/50 hours)
volunteer at local hospital (100+ hours)
member of local YMCA club swim team (4th-11th grade)
member of local rowing team (12th grade)
member of local dance academy (tap, jazz from K-12th grade)
job: lifeguard at local YMCA (10th-12th grade)

I have also job shadowed a doctor a few times. Unfortunately the town I live in is microscopically small (less than 30,000 people) so research opportunites are quite rare. Not that this is an excuse, but just to put that out there.

Your stats are really good no doubt, but your EC's i would say are weak.
They do show your diversity, but being member is not really significant unless you hold a leadership or higher position. Being a "member" isn't really special because anyone basically can be one, but if you were president etc than obviously you work for that position.

Volunteer is good.
How many hours in shadowing have you done?
Research is recommended
activities non-related to medicine, you have that. But, what about some volunteer work besides clinical/hospital for example, a children advocacy center.

If you brush up on a few things, then i would think you have a fair shot, your academic performance is perfect, no need to improve on that. But, obviously it revolves around the whole app and applying to a BS/MD program is very competitive.

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, I realized after I wrote "member" of each group that I did in fact have some higher position I just failed to put down haha
I am an assistant dance teacher this year, and was co-captain of both swim teams I participated in. I guess I didn't realize how relevant that leadership was, but it makes sense!

And I have volunteered through Honor Society doing many different non-medical things like bell ringing for Salvation Army, helping out at local soup-kitchen, community cleanup, stuff like that.
Thanks again for commenting.

Alright, then yea you can list those. It would be unnecessary to list anything that your a member in unless you hold a higher position like the ones you currently hold. The positions you hold, you will need to explain/elaborate a little bit about your duties etc when it comes time when applying

Also, with your non-related volunteer work, how many hours did you rack up? I guess you could summarize all those extra volunteer work into "community service" and find out the total # of hours you did that for.

Also, no problem, keep it up

It's been a while since I've looked at BS/MD programs so I may be totally off by this .... but arn't you late ... like really late applying?

Well, I am guessing you are a senior because you list your Senior year classes. The deadline for most regular colleges is January 1st and BA/MD programs either November of December 1. Soooo...I'm guessing you already applied and just was wondering if you'll get in.

Though you may get into one of the less selective programs like Drexel, with your stats, I don't think you'll get into any top programs. These programs like to see a lot of medical EC's (you only have the typical volunteering), a lot of medical research, and a lot of leadership.
