Credentials

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I don't know about the National Register, but having just gone through the licensure process in a new jurisdiction, the CPQ credentialling sure sped up the process.

I do have CPQ via the PSYPACT process as well

The National Register was very successful in being recognized multiple states, way back in the day. Some states allow/require the "HSP" label for their psychologists. IRC, there was some BS about psychologists needing additional credentials to treat substance use disorders in the 80s or 90s, and the NHR and APA created some weird certificate for that.

NHR is like Hydrox cookies. They were first, but everyone really wants Oreos. NHR was great, but, the CPQ is more recognized by states now.

Differential Pros:
  • "free" CEs, with membership.
  • whatever that HSP thing is on licenses
  • Tony Puente is on their board.
  • Probably more trustworthy than ASPPB, who is promoting MA level people

Lol, I remember that. The distinction never made sense to me.

Was just in a few states. I have no idea why. Presumably, bureaucratic stupidity played a role.

Fun story, Alan Marlatt was required to complete additional coursework in substance use at one point because of this. The course was taught using textbooks he had written.

I am in support of him having to do this.

Either the requirement is necessary, or it is not. If the requirement is necessary, EVERYONE should do it.

Agree in principle. And SUDs were much more sparsely covered in clinical programs in that era so perhaps that is why the requirement was created, though it also reeks of a situation where so-and-so politician's relative OD'd so they invented some token political change to make themselves feel better.

I would not want to be that instructor though. Imagine teaching an "Intro to CBT" course and Aaron Beck wanders into the room and plops down in the front row.

If Aaron Beck plopped down in the front row, I would want to know who I pissed off that is digging up dead bodies. Same for Marlatt actually.

Maybe Hayes if you can wade through the sea of ACT followers disrupting class to bow down.
