Many threads have mentioned that if one has an advanced degree like MD , PhD , then it is possible to complete the MPH in 1 year. Any idea how this can be done ?
Some institutions like Dartmouth allow all the credits to be completed within 9 months; most other universities simply mention the "typical" duration for MPH completion - usually 18-24 months. Is it possible to complete it early even in these universities ??

I don't understand this credit system so please help me out !
😕

No replies ? come on ....SDNers can do better than that ..

I think people with MD or PhD will just have to take the required classes for their MPH and that would be it compared to the non-doctoral students. I might be wrong--I would like to hear what others say about this.

If you don't have MD or PhD, then you can finish your MPH in one year--but then you will have to take extra load each semester in order to finish it. My classmates have finished their MPH in 3 semesters but had to take quite a load of classes in the fall and summer. I have not heard of any students (without MD or PhD)who have finished their Masters in Public Health degree in 9 months.

University of Minnesota Epi MPH is 45 credits (2-years) or 31-32 credits for those with a MD, DDS, DVM, PhD. The difference in credits is due to electives - standard students take 9-10 elective credits, the 1-year MPH people do not have to take any electives.
