So I have been complete at Creighton after they received my Aug. MCAT scores in October...and apparently my application still has not been reviewed, nor has a review date been set! I have emailed several times and I was finally told by the admissions office that they review applications "randomly" and thus cannot specifically tell me when my application will be reviewed. Does this seem counterintuitive to anyone else??? Anyone out there have a similar experience with Creighton? Any thoughts? Sorry for my rant...

I think they're slow in general. My friend interviewed there Oct. 31 - two and a half months later they still haven't told him anything. I've already heard from schools I interviewed at later than that. Maybe things are just more relaxed in Omaha. 🙂

same here.. they just replied to my email... still havent been reviewed...

Your friend should follow up with them. I know that they are very quick with their response. They try to get out an accept/waitlist/reject within 2-3 weeks after the interview. If it has been since October 31, then something is wrong.

I doubt if it is reviewed randomly. It is probably based on GPA/MCAT and undergrad institution with a little bit of randomness mixed in. I think that Creighton tries to pace the interview invites about a month in advance. If they review them too fast, then they will have all of the interview spots taken up by now.

Hey JBJ!

Shouldnt you be studying? HEHE.......anyways, Creighton shouldnt take more than a month in getting back to you. I hosted someone last week and he told me that they would get back to him within 2 weeks so something must be up with your friend.

same here, can you guys who "haven't been reviewed" post your numbers of PM them to me...I'm trying to figure out if the reason why I haven't been reviewed is my MCAT score (24-25). My GPA is fine, I think, I hope (3.3 undergrad science, 3.8 Post Bac) thanks for info and good luck to everyone! I sure hope they at least review us...sh-t I've been reviewed twice at some schools already and this school hasn't even reviewed me once 😕 WTF is going on?

they almost reject w/o question if your gpa is under 3.5. it's not something they really talk to much about unless you call them.

really? well then that can explain some things...but I haven't received a rejection letter yet....as a matter of fact I haven't even been reviewed???!!! hey NE Cornhusker1....how do you think they look at post bac grades? obviously my post bac GPA is higher than 3.5.....maybe that can help me....

my science GPA was below 3.4 and overall below 3.5 and I got an interview, so this is not true...the woman in the office have been extremely nice when I spoke with them.

I have a 3.45 GPA, a 30R MCAT, and I am so confused because I actually got an on site interview at Mayo, so there must be SOMETHING redeeming about my application aside from the fact that I am .05 GPA pts. lower than their "automatic reject" pile based on what NECornhusker says...

there is probably nothing wrong with it...just hang in there. Remember, this process has a fair amount of randomness in it.

unfortunately getting an interview at a top school like mayo does not translate into getting an interview at other schools.

it is a random thing. maybe they just dont like your application who knows? the best thing you could do is call, ask/and or wait.

Actually I just got off the phone with the Admissions office there and she told me the same thing. The Committee meets every week and randomly pulls files to review. I guess they level the playing field (at this point) for early applicants vs. late ones or they just like to spice it up by being random. Either way, waiting stinks. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the confirmation - I don't really get the logic, but I guess the whole process isn't filled with logic, so I'm not sure why I was expecting some at this point...

Hang in there..........if you are really interested in Creighton, call Dr. Nipper (Dean of Admissions) on Thursdays and he would be happy to talk to you. He's a really cool guy and easy to talk to ..........

Thanks a bunch for the suggestion! I might give that a try...

Do you think the people who are randomly chosen later than people who interviewed earlier are at a disadvantage as far as admissions go? I know a lot of people say that turning in your AMCAS and/or secondaries late puts you at a disadvantage - I turned mine in early, but I hope I'm not at an involuntary disadvantage because of their system. Since you've been through the process, what are your thoughts?

Thanks!

My friend that I mentioned up above got his acceptance via snail mail from Creighton today!! He interviewed on the 31st of October. He had a 28 on his MCAT. He did a post-bac with me, was a business major at USC.

Hope that is encouraging to some of you.

I never believe it when a school claims to review applications at random. I'm sure they find a way to review their favorite applicants first. Let's say there's an applicant whose family donates an ungodly sum of money to the school annually. Would that person's application get thrown into the "random pile"? I doubt it.

"Spice it up"?! Come on, Creighton: "Variety" is the spice of life, not "torturing neurotic obsessive premeds".

Gimme some love, baby.

Hey MNgrrl, it looks like we're waiting on the same schools! I've been complete at Creighton for awhile now...I think late October or early November and still no word. They told me that they interview through April. So the waiting continues...
