hi - i recently got off of creighton's waitlist and am trying to find housing in the area. i don't have a car so i'm looking for something near the school.

can anyone recommend apartment complexes or rooms for rent within walking distance from the school? i also hear that there is a creighton shuttle so if there are any places on that route that'd be great too.

also, if other students are looking to share a place, i'd be up for that too (so long as it's near the school)

thanks - blinx

I was just at Creighton Monday looking for housing. I'm living a little further out, since I have a car and a wife. You might check Heider hall, the oncampus grad student apartments. I would have considered it if I were single.

You should check out thier online housing survey. The link is on the SOMs website in the M2M section.

Generally speaking, the area directly around Creighton is a little seedy.

If I can help let me know.

Heider Hall (the graduate student dorm) is too expensive in my opinion. My friend pays $585/ month to live there. There is an apartment complex called Kellom Heights right across the street from Creighton Med. Their one bedrooms go for $490/month. That would probably be your best bet.

I would recommend Hillside Court apartments. It is on the shuttle route plus it's only 390 a month for a one bedroom. The apartments are pretty big as well (and easy to clean since the floors are wood). Also if you are using any search engines to find apartments look at anything on Davenport St. between 30th and 38th. The shuttle route goes through that area as well.

this is area is nice for its convenience in proximity, but is shady in terms of personal and property safety at best. Anything around Creighton is close, cheap, and shady.

thanks for the tips!!

i'll look around that area and see what comes up

I live in Omaha and pretty much anything around Creighton is definitely NOT the best part of town...ghetto, as some would call it. However the public transportation system in Omaha sucks so it's a good idea to get something nearby within walking distance.

But, it's cheap.

There are also families in various parts of the city that rent out parts of their home to students, (e.g. basements) and from what I can gather they run around 300-350 and usually have your utilities paid, etc. That's not a bad bargain, in my opinion. Something to look into.

Oh, and do not, unless if you have a death wish, get aparments on Park Place Ave. Just don't.
