So I have a question about the interview process at Creighton U, or any school that has a similar format for that matter. It wasn't really an interview as much as it was a question and answer session. You asked the interviewer questions, and he answered. I wasn't even asked a single question about my application.

So my question is, what's the point of the interview? I understand that it is to get more information out to the students so they make a better decision on selecting their school, but I mean for the ADCOMS.
If they don't ask you any questions, just you asking them, what exactly are they looking for? Can an interview like this help you, or even hurt you? I mean, unless you ask ridiculous questions like "Do you know how to make chocolate strawberry cheesecake?" or questions with answers that can be found online, like student:faculty ratio etc. I feel like it's just a way to see if the applicant is socially awkward, or a Texas Chainsaw Massacre type of deal. You get the point.

Opinions?

I was wondering about this too. I had a similar interview at Pitt. My interviewer started off with "do you have any questions for me?" and then we just kind of talked about stuff from there. It's so hard to tell how it went! I should've asked her how to make cheesecake haha

That's what I'm worried about! The other applicants were in there for 20-25 minutes, and I was in there for 45 minutes! I can't decide wether that's a good sign, as in it shows I am really interested in learning more about the school, or if it's a bad thing as in "did this applicant even do research before applying?"

I pretty much juiced everything I had. I even looked in the air, said hmm... to see if I forgot any questions. With that said, I didn't ask random questions like about cheesecake or "What color shoes was Columbus wearing when he took his first step off the Santa Maria" and I feel like most of my questions had it's merits, but it's sorta nerve racking to know that I didn't receive any feedback and I can't go back and think, "did I answer that question well?"

Anyone with more info about this, feel free to chime in. Admission freelancers are welcomed too 👍😀

Its so hard to tell. i got accepted to the school that was by far my worst interview, and got waitlisted at my best interview. its so crazy how the whole process works. i remember being in your exact situation, and wondering the same thing. thats why i think people say, "just be yourself" all the time. cause there is no definitive answer on what adcoms are looking for in interviews.

sorry this doesnt help much. but good luck with the whole process.

I'm guessing they feel pretty good about you and they just want to see if you can keep a decent conversation going? I'm just as puzzled as you. I have an interview there in the near future.

as far as i heard. creighton interview is very simple and easy. basic questions.
you are the first one saying that....
when was your interview??

That is how it was when i interviewed there last year. Sure its laid back because after all you are just asking Dr Norton questions, but there is something about it that puts you in a funk and you leaving thinking "did that just really happen"

This.

And the worst part is, you can't gauge how you did because you didn't even do any of the talking! I guess they evaluate you based on how terrible your questions are

Did you get the rocking in the chair and the stone face immediately after he was done answering your question???:uhno:

He was rocking at t = 0 haha. He's a nice guy though, and does a good job answering questions. His analogies also make you think twice, "wait what, he said just compared Creighton to a prime steak?!" but I feel like does a decent job in getting the point through.

I feel like it's the stone face that makes me worried. I feel like most of my questions were valid (I did ask a few dumb ones.... but.. um.. I got nervous ok!) but even the good ones (he said one of my question was really good) still got the stone face.

Hope Dr. Norton doesn't have an SDN :scared:

you guys were right. it was a little different but hey we just talk about a lot of things about the school. just let the conversation naturally flows. I somehow found it easier.

what you ask can show who you are as a person. he never said a thing about my application, but at one point he mentioned all 3 cities I grew up in the middle of conversation. That's when I realize he knows my apps inside out.

my guess is that once you are invited, ur Stats & EC are good and he wants to see as a person.
