So looks like Creighton is holding interviews this year? Anyone know why they changed their policy?
bump

I just emailed the admissions office and received this response:

"Interviews are not required as part of the application process. And
interviews for the RDEP program (for residents of Utah) are being done
at the University of Utah. All other interviews are being done by
invitation only.

That's really weird...I guess an interview is a good sign though...

Maybe they really like you and want to impress you with the school, so that you will choose them over other schools? Good luck

did anybody else get an interview w/o sending in the secondary and a picture? I was surprised to see the interview invite given I haven't completed these. just curious...

Alternate list this early??? I highly doubt it, especially when the people who are getting the interviews have excellent stats.

cool stuff! Will you be getting into Omaha on the 14th? If so we should grab dinner or something. Anyone else interviewing on the 15th should come as well!

 that would be the biggest d*%k move ever: "Please come spend half a grand and a few days of missed classes to spend a bunch of money flying out here and if you're good enough we might give a chance to maybe get accepted to our school."

Haha, in all honesty though, if you look at the people getting the interviews it's a laundry list of high stats (well, I can't speak for myself 😳 )

If they're the type that are being interviewed for the waitlist, I'm giving up right now 😛

For those who got invited....is the interview a one-day interview? do we need to bring anything else with us to the interview? Thanks

Just got an email back from Creighton admissions, asking about the following things:
1. Why are interviews being held this year?
2. Where (Building and Room) are they being held
3. What hotels are close by the University

Ryan,

Yes, the change in interviews to "invitation only" is a change for this year.

The interview will be held in the Boyne Building (which is the Dental building). It is on the 3rd floor, Room 388. The receptionist will be expecting you.

The closest hotel is the Park Inn, which is just a couple of blocks away. Their address is 3001 Chicago Street and their phone number is 402-345-2222.

Thanks for the info.....

I was looking at the Creighton website looking for a description on the "new" admissions process when I opened the administration bulletin. I couldn't find anything describing the process. However, they seem pretty specific about attire.

Dress Standard
The dress and appearance for all students enrolled at the School of Dentistry is expected to project a professional image for the School. Male students are expected to wear dress slacks, collared button down shirts, and neckties. Females are expected to wear professional looking blouses or sweaters, dress slacks, culottes, skirts at or below the knees, and appropriate hosiery. No jeans of any type or color will be worn by students while school is in session. Athletic, open toe (sandals) footwear, workboots, etc. are not acceptable.

What time's are your interviews scheduled for and do you know how long they're projected to last?

Bro, thats not specific it is common sense.

Specific in the sense that it goes into greater detail than "professional attire." Someone must have really gone off the reservation in the past.

do Creighton still accepts students w/o an interview?

I have an interview with Creighton scheduled for Sept. 18th. Anyone else on this day? I also have not sent in the secondary yet but am in the process of completing it. Is everyone else writing your responses to the couple questions on the last page or are you attaching longer answers?

armorshell said:
Actually that dress code is for Creighton students. It's pretty well known that Creighton has a dress code for class and clinic.

As do quite a few other schools.

hey, my interview is on sept 18 too...same as you, i still haven't sent in my secondary yet....i will attach a sheet for ~half a page per question.

Keikei and bnducd - did you send in your $ already, and when was your app mailed?

I paid mine a week after my invitation and my application was mailed on 7/17

I am going for the 15th too. Did anyone get more info from Creighton aside from a building and time? Anyone know what else to possibly expect?
This is my first (and so far only) interview, so I am particularly interested.

My application was mailed on the 17th of july, but I just sent in my appliation fee and secondary application last week. I recieved and interview without the fee or secondary. Kinda weird if you ask me.

r u guys in or out of state?

Think about what you just wrote. That's no different than ANY dental school interview you'll go on. You're spending money andmissing classes and if you're good enough you may get a chance to get accepted to the school.

This isn't a new concept.

First off I just wrote that a month ago, second you can't possibly equate interviewing for a seat in the class with interviewing for a spot on the waiting list.

When you're interviewing for an actual seat it's presumed that your chance of actual admission is much higher then if interviewing for a seat on the waiting list. If a school notified me I was interviewing for the waiting list I'd probably just throw the letter away.

The thrust of my post before was that it would be ridiculous to interview someone for a waiting list without telling them that's what they were interviewing for

Not to mention all of this is irrelevant because Crieghton isn't interviewing for the waiting list 🙄

are any of u out there reapplying to Creighton and if so have u had any correspondence with them as to whether or not an interview is or is not required and....if so, did any of u interview last year....what did they say, if anything, about reapplicants that applied last year and interviewed, are interviews still required for them?

thanks, that prob. makes no sense, time to sleep😴

I applied late last year and got relegated to the waiting list sans interview. I applied again this year and have not received an interview. I am hoping that this means I'll be accepted without one, but am starting to wonder. FYI, I am in-state, completed my undergrad at Creighton, and have mediocre stats (3.2 and 21).

do they really accept students w/o an interview??

From what I understand...the ONLY way you can get accepted to Creighton w/o an interview is if you attend/ed creighton from ur undergrad. other than that u need an interview. It was bizarre a friend of mind sent in his AADSAS in Janurary 06 and was accepted to Creighton in March 06...he's a D1 there right now...i think he might've been the luckiest person on the face of the earth b/c his stats were nothing to brag about...at least from what he told me...but still. However i dont think that'll happen EVER again though

I just received an information packet with the bulletin and whatnot from creighton. they are still waiting for some LORs from AADSAS so they aren't officially reviewing my app yet.

I'm assuming this is a good sign that I got this?
