I'm not going on those dates, I'll be there in April. What was the interview like? Were there a lot of applicants there? When did you hear back from them after the event regarding their decision? And if you don't mind, what are your stats?
Hi Linzelu89, I interviewed Jan. 20 and received my acceptance letter Feb. 10.
My overall impression of Omaha... let's say there will be some geographical adjusting for me hahaha but being accepted into a OTD program is it's own reward and enough for me to move from Phoenix, AZ.
I know Creighton OT dept holds a total of four interview dates and invites between 40-50 candidates each session.
The interviews last for 30mins and the remaining 4hrs while on campus is broken up between promotional videos, program overview, dept tour, OT student-to-candidate Q&A, and lunch. Interviews consist of a two mbr panel, the mbrs who interviewed me was the prg co-chair and a faculty mbr. When interviewing the interviewer's don't have your app nor have reviewed your app prior to you interviewing, thus everything is free-game in explaining why you'll would be a tremendous asset to their program. Creighton understands interviewing can be stressful as Creighton gives every effort in attempting to make your time in Omaha as relaxing as possible. During my interview I was asked: -Why OT -How would you explain OT to someone -What separates you from other candidates -My experiences during my internship/observations -A ethics question -Why Creighton -Your financial means while attending school
... no trick questions, just smile, tell the truth, incorporate your family and accomplishments into your interview.
My stats are not the greatest but I was able to demonstrate to Creighton and the other schools I interviewed w/ that although my GPA and GRE scores could be better I'm still a quality student that can be a successful OT. I accomplished this by highlighting other factors away from grades that makes me different from other applicants.
MY STATS: GPA - 2.95 Pre-req - 3.65 GRE - 144q 144v 3.5a
ACCOMPLISHMENTS HIGHLIGHTED DURING MY INTERVIEW: Have a master's degree in business administration Incorporated a business at the age of 22 Built an OT website (www.OTrecovery.com) Patent a goniometer design w/ adjustable arms Currently serving in the AZ Air National Guard Interned at the VA hospital's OT Dept
Thank you 🙂 It took Creighton about 5-6wks from the date I applied on OTCAS to send an email inviting me to interview. I would call the OTD's academic coordinator to find out about the 2012's cohort availability and if all of April's interview invitations have been sent out.
