I'm at WashU and love it. All I can say is question each program about field work locations and opportunities. The top 10 programs have 100s of locations (with 100s nationally) and opportunities that align to most interests. Smaller programs are very limited and struggle to place people for field work and end up placing students in nursing homes, public social programs, etc. Nothing wrong with those, but OT is so vast and you may want pediatrics, neuro, hand/upper body, or more clinical settings for your field work. Ensure the school you pick aligns to your interests and what you want to do with OT... all teach basically the same material, but field work is what separates the great schools from the others. Example is Tufts, most field work is centered around social and community programs. But if the school is also a medical school (Pitt, WashU, BU), then the clinical opportunities across different medical specialties will be available. Got to ask.

I just wanted to add, so people are aware, that WMU is in a rather conservative region of the country. It's a bit of a "bible belt". This information may be helpful for those of you who are members of the LGBT community or who might feel a bit on the outs in that area. At the very least I wanted to relay this information so it can help people make an informed decision. I don't want to paint with too broad of a brush.
