Creighton (Phoenix)

Pros
  • Higher PD ranking
  • Closer to home, family, friends
  • 100% match rate this year during covid
  • Research opportunities at Barrow, Mayo, ASU, U of A from what I’ve heard
  • More fun things to do in the area, warmer weather
Cons
  • New campus in Phoenix so less established opportunities
  • Unsure of how PDs would view the new campus even though it’s under the same accreditation as Omaha campus and M3/M4s have been rotating here for >10 years
  • Honors/pass/fail grading
  • Less diverse student body

Rosalind Franklin

Pros
  • P/F grading
  • More diverse student body
  • Appears to match well? - I want to go back to CA and it seems like a good amount of students match to CA programs
Cons
  • No main teaching hospital - harder to establish connections
  • Not much to do in North Chicago (but most m3/m4s move to the city and commute to rotations then)
  • Has a lower PD ranking
  • There was no formal interview this year so I don’t know much about the program (based their acceptances on VITA, which was sort of a red flag?)
  • Far from home; cold and snows

I think both schools may be similar, but a big downside is that Rosalind Franklin doesn't have a main teaching hospital.. however, it may not be a huge issue as students seem to match just fine? Any input is appreciated!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I did not think that RFU was true P/F. I thought they keep internal rankings from pre clinical and then do something like H/HP/P/F for clinical years.

Would PDs know that you were at Phoenix campus for all four years? Is there something different about the curriculum as compared to Omaha campus?

I know this is not really helpful, but these were the questions that I thought of when going through your pros and cons list.

Oh! Thanks for the clarification about the RFU grading system. I think PDs would know that it was Creighton's Phoenix campus for all 4 years, but they said that since it's under the same accreditation, the curriculum should be the same.
