Greetings! I see you're pre-med, so I'm not applying to the same program exactly, but I applied to the pre-dental post-bacc. It's really amazing how few people here apply to those programs, considering the guarantee and all!

For dent students, I believe the interviews are in March...
 
Hey there!🙂 I applied. Mr. Bunch said they start contacting people in the next couple weeks so I'm guessing around the end of Feb. Did they invite you to apply? I wonder how many students applied, hopefully not too many:scared:

Hey there, thanks for posting. Sounds good, so I guess I should still be patient since I assumed they might be going out early Feb. I was invited to apply. How about your-self? I remember asking one of the staff, how many apply to the pre-med program and she said around fifty students apply and fifteen students are granted on campus interviews. Do you know what they look for (urm, grades, experience, etc??)?
 
I thought early Feb. too (from the website). Even though he said a couple of weeks I still check my email like a maniac lol

I was invited to apply as well. I know the program is for economically or educationally disadvantaged students. I did emphasize the type of community I grew up in (schools were terrible), my parents were immigrants, my culture (Guyanese), and how I want to serve disadvantaged communities. I think being at Creighton would be great for that purpose. What's your story? 😀
 
I was invited to apply as well. I am checking my email all the time for news. Hopefully we will hear soon!

I noticed the students for MD post bacs were invited....were you also extended an invitation to apply? I wasn't invited, but still submitted an application.
 
nagore123, no, I did not receive an invitation to apply. I did apply to Creighton's dental program and I did get rejected, at least according to the AADSAS online profile. That being said, they haven't mailed me anything yet. I'm curious if there will be an invitation to apply in the mailing.

I made a thread about this program in the Pre-dental forum but it was quickly made obsolete. I only know of one other person on the SDN forums who applied to it besides you. That makes 3 of us accounted for. Here is the thread I created:

yes...let's keep in touch. My only concern is not having been invited to apply...It seems the dent program would work the same way as the med, meaning they are only interested in those they extend an interview....I certainly hope not, but can't help worry about it.
 
No no - they are certainly more than interested in students who haven't received an invite to apply. I encourage you to shoot them an email about that - the director of this program is very friendly and he'll set your mind at ease.

craigory-thanks for the encouraging email.....by the way, if you don't mind my asking.....where have you interviewed and when did you submit your application?

I submitted to AADSAS in the middle of May. Zero interviews. Not a single one. So I'd say if I don't get into a postbacc, it's gonna be a couple years before I try again. I applied to 14 schools - that was a lot of cash for me!:scared:

Im sure there were other students that applied to the MD post bac that were not invited because the application is readily available online.🙂 (they are just not posting) best of luck to you guys.

I, too, feel your pain. I'm in roughly the same position you are.....my DAT scores were a bit lower, but GPA higher...so it's about the same. I applied to 7 schools and have been rejected from 2, with no interview offers. This sucks. Let's just hope for the best. what do you plan to do before you reapply again? I was looking into some of the 1 year master's in science programs.

I'm new to the forums! I also received an email invitation to apply. I haven't heard any news yet from Creighton! Still crossing my fingers! Best of luck to everyone! Dee Ederer who is handling the applications said there were roughly 50 applicants (I don't recall if that is just pre med or premed+predent). Nonetheless, I'm nervous as hell!!

Nothing....I emailed (late Friday afternoon) Dee to see what the timeline looked like. Online it says that interviews are held in Feb??????? Well anyway when she gets back to me I'll def let you guys know...

I am thinking they mean that interview notifications will be sent out in Feb., rather than held in Feb??
 
first round of interview invitation are already sent out according to Dee

Nope...I've though about calling, I'm afraid to seem bothersome though. I thought they only invited 15 people so I don't know why they would send out two sets of interview invitations.
 
Considering the amount of people we have following these threads here I'm sure we'll hear something as soon as the interview invites do go out. That being said, OromoMD's post was painfully brief - I wish we had some more details. I guess we'll all know soon enough! I'm bracing for the worst already just so that I don't get my heart broken if I don't make the cut.

She said a round of invitations already went out by email -17 total.

She also said that sometimes they send out a second round of interview invites, but it wouldn't be until mid-March and it would really depend on if the committee wants more applications-- some years there are two rounds, some years there are one.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I figured it was better than waiting in vain...
 
Uh oh! Well, here's hoping that the dental invites are on a different schedule... :scared:

This is my first post here but I've been lurking on this thread. Has anyone received an interview/rejection yet? I know by reading the above posts interviews have already been sent but has anyone got it yet?

"At this time all completed files have been reviewed by the committee and invitations to interview have been emailed out to a portion of the applicants. It is uncertain if more invitations will be issued. The committee will not make a decision on that possibility until at least the middle of March; no final decisions will be made before that one. Thank you for your continued interest in the Creighton University Pre-Medical Postbac Program."

Wow. I don't know what to say. I was sure that I'd get an interview. Oh well, nine more post-baccs to go!

She means that out of the 56 or whatever that applied they already selected a portion of people who they wanted to interview.😎

So weird I thought I would get an interview...I mean I guess you never know what they are looking for...😱
 
Just in case any pre-dents come across this thread, it sounds like the interview invites for that program have gone out as well. Strange that they weren't sent via email!


Maybe mine is lost in the mail???? :idea:

I only applied to a handful:

Dominican University in IL - Received acceptance notice last week to their postbac premed program

VCU - Awaiting "verdict" 🙂 - director of program says I will have one this week or next (fingers crossed)

Northeastern University - Everything was completed as of yesterday (won't hear back for a couple of weeks I suppose)

Colorado State University - MS B program, pending completion of application

Thinking of also applying to Loyola and Drexel for the IMS or MSP stream.....I'm having problems deciding (this probably belongs in a different thread, but...) if it's more beneficial to apply to a program with all Upper Level Sciences (Med School level) or to apply to one that reviews some of the basics (as I need to repair a few C+ basic science classes) and some upper or to do an SMP.....I think in the end, it boils down to a matter of working hard in any program, getting top marks and good MCAT scores (extra currics are fulfilled, so no need to worry about that).....any opinions would be helpful.
