Hello Everyone! I was wondering if somebody could tell me about Creighton, specifically: Do students do research projects? Does community service have a big role in students' lives at Creighton? What types of community service opportunities are there?

Thanks in advance for your help!

The dental school does want you to have some community service background. Creighton does have it's own hospital, so you can do community service there.

Do you happen to know what service organizations are available? Do students volunteer at the hospital?

Also, does anyone know about research at Creighton?

Thanks for your help!

Most people volunteer time at the "One World Clinic". It is held in the Creighton Clinic every other Thursday evening after class. Basically people come in and get their dental needs taken care of for free, or a minimal fee of $20. They are always asking for volunteers to help with that. That is the main one here, I'm sure there are others in the community, or any community for that matter.

As far as research, during the second semester of the freshman year, you will be placed in a "table clinic" research group. You and your group will have a faculty mentor and will spend a lot of time doing research and preparing it for a presentation at the end of the year. Some students went on to do research over the summer and beyond. At that point it is basically up to you to work something out with a professor you would like to do research with.

Thank you for your responses! I really appreciate your help. Hmm...a more general question: What is your favorite aspect of Creighton?
