Creighton vs Auburn?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Met someone from the creighton distance programs a few years ago. The guy was prob 30+ going back to school. Do not recommend because the vibe I got from it is that you will "miss out on the college experience". Plus Alabama > nebraska

I know pharmacists from both Auburn and Creighton. I was told that Creighton is great for students that have obligations (ie family / kids) that would require them to stay at home..

as with any pharmacy school - what you learn and get from it is solely bassed on how much you put into it..

The only reason I decided not to go to auburn myself is that I wanted an accelerated program - otherwise Auburn was my #1 pick.

Thanks.

South college was good but I didn’t see myself in Tennessee for a few years. Midwestern is nice too but I think these programs are really 3.5 years rather than 3. Some type of marketing scheme to me

Well, there is also South University in Savannah, Ga.

Classes begin 6/25/18 and would end (graduate) in May 2021 - so it’s right at 3 years..

South College is 10 week semesters and a 3 week break in between. They have 4 semesters per year (Summer, Fall, Winter, and Spring) and there is only a 1 week break in between the winter and spring semesters.. each semester you’ll have at least 6 courses - with some being only 5 weeks long..

Whichever school you choose - best of luck!!

Thanks, good luck to you too.

What are your thoughts on PCOM in Atlanta?

TBH; I didn’t look at them..

The schools that I did look at were LECOM, Creighton, Auburn, South U., South C., Shenandoah, and FAMU.

I spoke to current students at FAMU and they highly recommended going to any other school other than FAMU..

A lot of people enjoyed Auburn at both the main campus and the satellite campus in Mobile, Al..

I know a few people who graduated from South U. And they had nothing but nice things to say about it.

A close friend of mine graduated from South C. And he highly recommended it to me - and that was where I decided to apply with early decision - luckily, I got an interview in August and found out by the first week of September - so I saved a ton of money on my application fees!!

I never got a chance to talk to anyone at / about LECOM - so I don’t know much about that school other than they offer distant learning and on campus.

I should also add that NOVA seems pretty solid (from interns that I have worked with)..

I heard nothing but bad things bout lecom. Opposite from creighton and Auburn. Both programs are solid.

Yeah I applied super late so I wasted ton of money honesty

Thanks, good luck to you too.

What are your thoughts on PCOM in Atlanta?

PCOM
-30K+ per year tuition
-Limited rotation sites as it is new and numerous sites flat out refuse to take their students
-From direct experience and experience of my peers, the students are often subpar (not sure if a direct education issue or if just some of the low tier students who get in)
-Limited alumni in the area & numerous large/established schools surround the area, this could limit job opportunities
-About the only positive for PCOM is that they have a nice pharmaceutics lab

Honestly some of the students I met were nice but subpar just by talking to them. The labs were incredible though because they are all new and they do cutting anatomy which is odd and usually for dental and medical schools

From what I recall when I toured the facilities, they have access to the cutting lab because of the DO school on campus. However, I am not even sure how much interaction they actually get with the cadavers, so it might just be a pure sales pitch.

If I remember correctly we asked and they responded that you just look at them or something around those lines
