Docs,
Anybody give a personal opinion about Creighton?? I am very interested in this school, just hope I hear from them. Complete on 9/8. Thanks! 🙂

I went for an interview at Creighton on Nov. 12 and was completely impressed by the school. The school is very community-service oriented; I would say 99% of the freshman class is involved in community service in some way (habitat for humanity, magis in medicine, local schools, etc). The new magis in medicine student-run clinic for homeless families is awesome.

The curriculum is great; they use problem-based learning, the grades are pass/fail/honors, and they have well-rounded course-loads that include medical ethics.

The facilities are nice too: they have new/high tech anatomy labs, work-out equipment in the medical student center, a computer testing center, and "smartboards" in the small group rooms. If you go for an interview, I would recommend staying with a host student. The students are really laid back and have a good time. While I was there they took us around town and to a hockey game.

A perk for me is also the Jesuit affiliation-- the school comes across as very supportive and concerned about treating the whole person/whole student. When I was there, there was a pregnant first-year student and when I asked if she was worried about having a baby during finals she said "not really, the dean said we'll figure out finals later".

The only challenges for me are the cost (going to be like 38K next year for tuition) and location (Omaha is pretty far from everything I know). The city itself seemed to be growing and has a lot of potential though.

I hope this helps. After my interview Creighton jumped from being pretty low on my list to being one of my top choice schools. I can't say enough good things about it. Thier focus is people, which is why many of us are going into medicine in the first place🙂 Sorry if this dragged on; the best of luck to you.

Thanks so much for the info. The Jesuit affliation is important for me too. Let me know if you get in 🙂

My application was complete around september 23 I think
I interviewed nov. 12 (email invite)
I received an acceptance nov. 22 (mail)

Hope this helps!
