I tried looking in previous threads but the answer was never really given....

FA says there is increased urine urobilinogen in Gilbert and Crigler....but this makes no sense to me. To get increase urine urobilinogen, you have to have direct bilirubin be made in liver first to be excreted into the gut.

GILBERT = poor uptake and poor conjugation, hence LOW direct bilirubin being made
CRIGLER = poor conjugation, hence LOW direct bilirubin being made

So....why does FA say it increases urine urobilinogen?

Which edition of FA and which page(s)? I don't see any mention of urobilinogen along with Gilbert's or Crigler-Najjar in my FA 2014.

EDIT: Nevermind ... found it. One sec while I write a reply.
EDIT2:

Yeah, increased urobilinogen doesn't sound right. It first has to be conjugated bilirubin which then is processed by intestinal flora to urobilinogen. So naturally, urobilinogen should be lower in both those cases.

I looked at the FA errata as well. The correction is pending "expert review". So it's very likely the correction will be added to the official errata in the next round.
