Hey guys,
So my question is..

Im 21 years old and I got a DUI when I was 20, im not attending school just to do my G.E.'s but want to go into dermatology, since I have a mild case of psoriasis and would love to able to help out those who have it as well. Now I assume I wont be done with schooling and training for years to come, will me having a DUI affect my chances of becoming a Dermatologist, assuming Ill be in my late 20's early 30's by than?

THANKS.

Instead of worrying about the DUI I would worry more about med school first... If derm is the only thing you think you can do then I would advise you to do something other than med school... it is a long road, especially where you stand (first you have to get in... then you have to essentially rock out 4 years of med school). I have no idea how a DUI would factor in the process... I do know of a candidate a few years ago that didnt get an interview at my home program because he got a DUI and took time off for it and didnt adress it in his personal statement and it showed up on his background check (of course)...

I agree with opencomedo.

A DUI (especially at 20) is never a good thing. But if you're revisiting it in your late 20s or early 30s, it may not hurt as much.

I would also agree with opencomedo in advising against medical school if derm is the only thing you're interested in. Not a recipe for happiness.
