Hey all, this is my first thread so IDK if i'm in the right forum.

To get to the point, I have been arrested before, but all were unjust except one minor charge I am not worried about. I was at a party and my adjudication was withheld. Another charge was a DUI on a BICYCLE when i was 17 and tried as an adult. I flat out just was not intoxicated at all and i was found completely not guilty by a judge. Now I have two domestic battery cases with a family member who gets violent with me but due to me being the young and fit one in the dispute, I was arrested both times and I do not feel comfortable getting into the specifics due to the case being active. The first case was disposed by the prosecutor due to lack of evidence (and I was defending myself after being struck 3 times), the new case is pending and I have been told by law enforcement officials involved in the arrest that It would be disposed once again. The local police department has leveled with me on both occasions, when someone asserts that they want to press charges, they have to arrest somebody, and that somebody was me. Am I only in trouble if I am convicted of this charge? Thanks guys

The pattern really won't bode well for you. I usually advocate for employers/adcoms trusting in the criminal justice system (IE: arrest does not equal guilt) etc. I know exactly what people like you feel because I have a borderline PD relative who LOVES to call the cops on people. It messed up my brother's police officer career prospects and he wasn't even charged/arrested. But it's pretty tough to explain away a pattern of arrests and/or charges. The thing to do is answer all questions honestly and if you have questions about what you need to reveal, run it by a lawyer. The last thing you want to do is slip through the cracks because medical licensing boards won't tolerate that kind of thing, and by the time you'll be dealing with them you'll have way too much skin in the game.

As a more long term strategy, you might want to move away from those people and be a productive member of society for some years. Then you can explain that you were in a toxic environment (which, if you can function well in your new environment, would be true).

You're only in trouble if you convicted. However, some secondaries will ask for arrest. There are boxes for explanations.

I am disturbed about the battery accusations though.

This is why I hate this. I look like a total abusive drunk on paper. In reality I was unfairly arrested on a bike, and I get carted off every time I have a family argument.

Borderline personality disorder is a possibility in my family, but I would not bet money on it due to both of my parent's substance abuse.

He explained it and yet you were still disturbed.

The multiple arrests for battery raise an eyebrow. Maybe I'm watching too many episodes of Cops. But having a 12 year old who sometimes refuses to accept responsibility even when caught red-handed doing something he shouldn't be doing, I also am aware that there are always, always two sides to every story.
