I posted about this on pre-allo. Med schools do crim background checks once you're accepted and you're expected on the secondary to tell them of any misdemeanor or felopny you've ever been convicted of, even if it's been expunged from your record. What I cannot find out is how often they reject people who have non-violent one time misdemeanor convictions. I tried contacting some schools but they said they couldn't say how it would be taken. Does anyone know anything about this? I'm afraid of blowing my family's savings on pre-reqs only to find out no one will take me.
I checked and my particular misdemeanor wouldn't be a factor in gaining a medical license and it is not violent or drug-related. Does anyone know if this is a major problem? Thanks...
